Next round

What does HResque mean? Are we actually talking about HR? Or HR adjacent like facilities? Because there's also just a bunch of construction happening right now so they may be taking rooms offline.

False alarm, y'all! No layoffs here! Just a little construction so we're fit for growth!! Call off your job search! Biogen's future has never been brighter! Be bold! Be best!

The same person (in HR, title confused me at first but they are in HR) who had booked many rooms during the last wave has booked them again.

During the round in Research in late August they did the same thing. Those that were laid off got an email at 7am saying they could either come in to hear the news or stay home and do it remotely.

Is it just me, or does it seem dumb to give people the choice? "Hey, we're laying you off - want to come tell us we're jerks in person?" Just tell people to stay home!

HR books rooms because there may be 1-2 of them in the room together making notifications over teams. If your invite is 30 minutes, bad news. If it’s 15 minutes it’s to tell you that you were impacted by org (like your manager got let go and you’re now in XYZ department).

What is the usual sequence of events? Do they send an invite in advance, or do they simply call you up?

from my experience they send invites out to those impacted pretty early, by 9:30 at the latest. They get notified first. 30 minute invite = layoff bc they have to go thru the severance with you. If you get a 15 minute invite don’t panic bc it may just be an update to you bc you’re affected by the impact (ie your manager got let go). Pay attention to who is on your invite. If it’s just HR and your manager/leader; that’s another bad sign. If others are included it may be fine. This is all based on what I experienced in July and August. Good luck everyone! At least there is light at the end of the tunnel now.

where did you land on this? Laid off or staying on? If laid off, what details can you share about severance, specifically insurance continuation?

I have survived the cuts so far but the 2 packages I know about were good. Both seasoned employees (10+ years). Think they got about a years worth salary. I have heard they cap it at a year. I’ve also heard 2 weeks per year , but I think there are factors like level, etc. I hope that helps.

I heard you get insurance continued for the same amount of time as your severance. so if you get 3 months, you also keep your insurance for 3 more months.
