NEW REPS

I know honest feedback on this site is a long shot, but I would like to know the reality of Oralair sales, company culture, room for growth, etc. They are waving substantial pay increases at tenured reps who are interviewing, and before I make a decision to leave I would like to know if it is worth leaving my current position for?

Actually I am not a moron, the recruiter that keeps calling me to interview for a position here said it was a small biotech company. Most biotech companies sell a pharmaceutical product thus most job postings are called biopharmaceutical representatives.
Thanks anyway.

I never come on here but I will say most everyone is upset with everything here. I wish I could disagree with what people worse here but it's worse than people are saying. If you are desperate for a job- then maybe, but even with that I would not come here.

Can you be more specific? Is this just in reference to the product and the challenges around it, or the company itself?

Thanks in advance.

Someone wrote this good overview on another thread. Might as well post it on this one as well. Also, keep in mind they keep laying off top talent in the company to bring in new people. The talented people see right through the BS. You won't make any more than your base salary because the product is doing absolutely nothing.

If you want to know all about where this company was, and where it is heading, read this. It will be a comprehensive breakdown of what you will be doing at Greer if you are hired.

For 100 years this company sold allergy testing devices and serums for allergy immunotherapy shots. Those devices/serums/vials were sold directly to the doctors for $ and the rep helped negotiate those prices.

The company was bought to leverage those existing relationships to launch a product called OralAir which is a 5 Grass Sublingual Immunotherapy pill. It was FDA approved April 1, 2014. When the product was launched there were 36 reps across the country and your duties were to sell the MASSIVE catalog of serums, devices, vials, etc. AND then sell OralAir (through a speciality pharmacy).

fast forward to now...

They are looking to expand the salesforce to 70 reps selling ONLY OralAir. All of the devices/serums/vials/etc that were being sold directly to doctors will now be sold by only 6 people across the ENTIRE COUNTRY.

That is the short version of this company. Now here is the short version of the product they are trying to hire you to sell...

OralAir- Contains 5 "Northern" grasses (Timothy, Kentucky Blue, Orchard, Perennial Rye, Sweet Vernal). Understand that there are hundreds of different types of grasses, weeds, trees, molds, etc. They want you to sell a pill, that only helps with 5 grasses. Then keep in mind that these 5 grasses in OralAir only grow in specific parts of the country. So if you are a rep in an area where these grasses don't grow, then you are going around to doctors asking them to prescribe a pill for grasses that don't grow there.

The product has been on the market for a year and four months and has been nothing short of an absolute failure. Management will tell you it is because they don't have enough reps (reach and frequency) yet the Merck product (Grastek) isn't doing any better and that product only has 1 grass in the pill.

Thank you poster #31. That does help a great deal with weighing out the possibilities. Recruiters are really pushing the Merck advantage because of sheer sales force numbers. However, the recruiters also sound a bit desperate which makes me wonder why top 10% performers are coming over for this product? Hmmm

So is there stability in the sales rep role?
Ask where the top 7 reps are from 2014, if they tell you they are still with Greer they are lying. They have either left to get a real sales job or were laid of for no reason.
What is legitimate bonus?
You won't be making anything more than your base salary because the product isn't doing anything. Especially if you live in an area that doesn't have the 5 grasses.

Because the reps that were doing well wanted their money and they refused to pay! They would give you your commission check and statement the day it was deposited. No one would tell you where you stand and they lie about prescriptions. They will get sued for all of the lying that Chris Blanc has done. Off label promotions, the FDA will come after them as well. If you believe anything on this post than believe this! Stay away! From the 36 reps that launched this product, ask howany are still left and why they laid off top performers ? Each and every person laid off, brought in all the scripts for the company! Go figure it is because they didn't want to have to pay commissions to those people. People are still trying to get first quarter payout, since they lied about that too. Don't come here, unless you are unemployed. Chris will eat you and spit you back out to save his own ass. You have been warned! In the interview process, ask to talk with past reps in the area or heck go to a doctor and ask them! I bet you they will tell you to never come in again and don't ever say the word Greer. They have ruined their reputation! Which it was a really good one for 110 years and Chris Blanc came and destroyed it in less than one year. RUN!

From another company thread:

Blanc needs to put LIAR on his resume! Wow from the above post he was just as bad in RH.
He finally got what he deserved! I heard wal-mart is hiring greeters for the holidays. Wait you have to be nice and civil. I guess that position is out too.

Blanc what to do. Well let me think....
1. First realize what a horrible person you are.
2. Lying is not the ethical thing to do.
3. Try to understand the market if and when you ever work in this industry again.
4. Learn to treat people with respect.
5. Don't discriminate and promote people on merit.
6. With this time seek help possibly a therapist.

You got what you deserved! This man is a horrible person he is truly disliked by many and it sounds like not only in Neurology.

  1. The drug is not needed in the market. It offers no benefit in terms of efficacy and patients do not want to take medication 4 months before they need it for a seasonal allergy
  2. Terrible managed care and prior-authorizations are required. Physicians do not want to do this or deal with a specialty pharmacy
  3. 5 year long tern study but they only publish 3 year? Why?
  4. They did mot get the indication for 5-9 years old. Why? They are vague to answer
  5. Physicians make their money on a quick 3 second shot. Why would they go through the hassle.
  6. This is for primary care use not specialist and even that they don't want to be bothered
  7. Why pay $300 a month for 6-9 months when you can buy Zyrtec for $30 a month and take it when needed
  8. The drug makes no money and they will realize by February that nothing is coming in and will start cutting sales reps. They can not afford to keep everyone on for another with hopes that next year they can generate revenue. This is not be profitable.
  9. They are more concerned with you having a photo on your email, everyone signing their email the same, entering the time on your sales calls and idiotic tasks instead of real sales issues.
  10. They micromanage your spending right down to the $1 receipt
  11. Marketing as no clue what they are doing. They don't have the experience. They make up 40 sales pieces that are useless but do not send you the few pieces that are useful. What a disgraceful way to waste money and job justification.
  12. Leadership does not really know what each department is doing.
  13. Benefits are awful!!! No 401k for 6 month and even then it's bad. In 6 months they know people will be gone. Health coverage, dental, vision is minimal. Hope you don't get sick. Cars are so basic not even a CD player and seats move manually.
  14. Where are the pay stubs? You have to dig to get access to it.
  15. No studies to leave behind? Why?
  16. They want success stories but nothing has been sold. They want cheerleading stories and people are making them up in detail just to give something to management.
WHAT DID I FORGET
