New Expense Guidelines

no problem. I will be lowering my cell phone plan from unlimited to 500 minutes a month and am telling my RD to not call me anymore. Its for customers only. No more hour long conference calls from my cell phone.

Yep. Screw trying to work a full day on the day they want conference calls. Just take it from home and save the cell phone minutes.

You do realize that we get a report that shows what #'s call in to conference calls? This is something that every RD either gets or has access to. - and it can be setup to be emailed as soon as the call is over . This is not the myth of the gps trackers in cars, etc. This is real ... Just an FYI..

Like the lousy 3 week vacation plan, this is another Shire policy that forces field based employees to lie.

This is true. At the conclusion of every large national call, Kathy sends an excel list out to the ZDs telling them to distribute to the RDs. The idea being that the RDs should track down anyone who dares to miss a call that she is leading. Another useless assignment to help fuel her insatiable ego.

So what? Who cares if they get a list of what numbers you called from. First off, if I am restricted on the amount of calls being reimbursed from my cell phone than I have every right to take the call from home. If the RD is smart they will schedule a call first thing or very end of the day. Since we shouldn't according to policy be on our cell phone while driving anyways this should not be an issue. Besides, cell phone back noise/ reception is horrible for conference calls and very annoying for everyone else. I will call from a home land line every time and I don't care who gets a list afterwards. If they don't like it, they can bump up the cell phone reimbursement or stop the excessively long conference, texts and daily calls.

Ever hear of a MUTE button genius? And if you have a cell plan where you come anywhere going over "minutes" you are even more clueless than you sound.
Most plans have unlimited cell to cell calls and free nights and weekends. And my expectation is that you are taking these calls from a parking lot in one of your offices. KK is giving us plenty of resources to find out this type of information. The free ride that you "old Shire" reps have known for so long is over...When you get your phone issued by KK you won't even be able use your reimbursement to fund your family plan....

What's the point of the conference call then? Mute makes for a very one sided call.

Again ..... Seriously??? Ok , here you go brain surgeon. You mute while you are listening (80-90% or more) and then you unmute to make your useless "piggyback" best practice success story, then you mute again. I always love the geniuses like you that don't mute and everyone hears the dog barking, traffic, or background noise in the mall....

I agree with the poster that said take the call from home. You don't have to worry about my background noise. I will be on mute for now on while at home so you don't hear my dog barking or kids crying. I wonder how much money KK will save on gas now that I don't have to drive to the extra call on conference call days.

I used up my entire ink cartridge printing out the color coded calendar. I used my entire data plan on the ipad trying to open the meaningless attachments and waiting for vital signs to finally decide it wants to work. Since I used my entire budget on new ink (I could only afford black, sorry KK I know you like color coded calendars) I couldn't afford a car ipad charger. Now my battery died and I can't use iREP. But the media never works for that anyways, so I make sure to keep my CVA with me along with the ipad. Good thing I now have to carry my computer with me everyday because KK didn't realize that you can't really use excel effectively on the ipad. The only problem is you can no longer enter calls from your computer. But the computer came in handy when I had to use concur, but now that I don't have a aircard, I had to leave the field to find a hotspot instead of making calls.

So can someone tell me exactly how the new leaders are saving us time and money? At least on my old ancient sales pro IBM laptop I could enter calls, look up reports and do a expense report. Now I am carrying around a ipad, CVA and a computer and neither can do what I need it to do or save me time.

You're an idiot. Who still does their expenses on their laptop? Also, have you heard of downloading the apps for excel etc... So you can read word documents on your ipad. Maybe you can't nevessarily construct a report on them but certainly you can read anything you need to. And all you reall have to do is screenshot your reports and save the photo to your ipad which is easier than carrying around tons of papers anyhow. You're the one making things seems complicated. Don't make it harder on yourself than it needs to be. I'm definitely not a KK fan but if this is the caliber of people shire is hiring its concerning. If you're not smart enough to work smart and make life easier on yourself in spite of the unnecessary tasks we've been assigned then you need a serious technology lesson.

Reps like you give real sales reps the bad rep they get. This is why everyone thinks we're just lazy. Stop your whining. It's not that bad. Most people would kill to have jobs like ours with some fleixibility, good earning potential and perks. Granted-it's changing and our new leadership is certainly questionable. But clearly you haven't worked outside the industry. In spite of these changes it's still (comparatively) a nice gig. So shut up and stop crying like a baby who needs to be coddled and giving the entire sales force a bad reputation!

Last I checked you can't edit or sort excel via laptop. I am guessing poster means you have to actually carry your laptop with you if you plan to keep your calender updated or actually utilize the many lists that are emailed over in excel. My RD couldn't care less if we updated ours once we submit it, but I do know several RD's that require it be updated and sent to them with changes. Those reps do have to carry their lap top with them in the field. Screenshots can't be filed into folders (unless you know something I don't). Not everyone likes having to sift through 500+ screenshots to find the file they need. These two are valid points the poster has. The rest not so much. The concur thing can be debated. Yes, you can do the majority of your expenses on the ipad, however, certain actions are limited via the concur app. For instance, if you need to itemize, enter a large number of attendees, or certain other tasks, you will need a laptop. It really just depends on how complicated your expense report is for a given month.

Spoken like someone who works so smart, they don't really work. Not everyone just screenshots and forgets about it. Some people actually attempt to utilize the data pushed down. If you did, you would understand how inconvenient it is sorting through 100 screenshots to find something. Photo shots can't be edited or sorted. The ipad is great on the road, but all the new spreadsheets and tasks require the use of the computer in the field. Doing them on the ipad is not possible or takes 5 times as long.
