Need FAST advice please!!!!!

Okay first of all I realize I will get called names by posting this so, please save yourself the trouble, stop reading if you are immature. I need serious advice...

First I am a CL 4, making a base of 91K and 23K targeted bonus. My DSM, who IS staying, promised me that in 2012 I will most likely be promoted to a position back east. Yes that IS what I wanna do. I do not wanna be a rep forever. Most likely I will survive the layoffs, but to protect myself I looked for other jobs and one of them turned into an offer.

The offer is for a Sr Sales Rep in another industry. I have a degree in that industry. I will not say what it is, as I do not wanna give it away, but it is more recession proof. They are offering me a base of $110,000 and a bonus of $25,000. So a jump from AZ BUT the pickle is that I would still be a sales rep, and basically start from bottom and work for 4-6 years before I can get into management.

Now, knowing what you know, and if you were in my shoes would you:
A. Remain at AZ for hope of being a trainer, analyst or whatever back east OR
B. Start in a new industry but as a lowly, alas highly paid, but still a sales rep?
I think if you like the new industry you should go for it, as you said it is recession proof, AZ and pharma are going to contract reps. If you stay in pharma there is no guarantee that you will get promoted and if you do, they may rescructure and downsize again. A few years working your way up may be better than prolonging the career in that industry by staying in pharma.

Another OP responding to their own question 5 different ways. The time stamps are to close to be different people. OP just wants to get people responding. This is foolish.

Your answer lies in your own post..."...my manager promised me that I would Most likely be promoted". what kinda of promise is that? Managers have no control. You need to relay on ur own "gut" and if think u have a future here and u want to stay w az good luck...personally i call that denial...but it is ur journey..

Run as fast as you can you have a great opportunity in front of you!! Best of luck!
First of all a DSM does not have any pull in getting you a position in HQ and second, why the fuck would anyone move for this company right now?
Take the other offer and move on because this company shows no loyalty and you are one psychotic insecure boss away from being fired here.

Run, Forrest, Run!!! This industry is sinking like a cow in quicksand. You will be much better of in the long term to find yourself a home in another industry.

Choose B: this is a no brainer. Can't you see that the pharma industry is dead. Plus you will get more money...the only person who cares if you have a top job is "yourself" no one really cares when it comes down to it...as long as you do a good job.

You're too fucking stupid for either position because asking this on CP. Stay a rep, it fits your IQ.

What happens when your DM gets laid off, quits, (or his manager for that manner) goes nuts and burns bridges at AZ??.. I can't see how you can rely on a 'promise' with a "more likely" thrown into the conversation...what happens in Dec. 2012? when you're still asking about that transfer?? DM's easy reply is "gee, I'm really surprised but things changed, gosh we'll try for next year?"

OP post here.... Thank you all for the advice. For the immature respondents, go eat a dick. And good luck tomorrow because you will need it. For the majority who IS mature and posted honest responses thank you!!! I am kinda leaning toward the new job but have to share with you that I am scared to start all over in a new industry, with no trackrecord. This is almost like career suicide. How will this look on LinkedIn or my CV when they see me hopping industries? Thoughts?
