MS Drug

Anyone have an idea of the salary range, benefits, car or allowance, etc? Thanks in advance!

I was surprised the offer was low. I have 9 years experience in MS at Teva and Biogen. Current base is 139k- Genentech offer was only 145k. Drug won't be approved until next summer at best- some concerns with trial design according to multiple thought leaders. Benefits and 401k definitely better here than Biogen. I have till end of week to decide- still not sure what to do. But was a little bit insulted on the base- was expecting closer to 150-155k.

They still offer a car allowance.

Good luck to all that applied!

So you were offered more than you currently make and have an issue? This is not Biogen so don't try to compare the two companies. I've been with this company for almost a decade (with a year away for what I thought was greener grasses) and continue to fail to understand how so many outside reps who want to get on board, think that they are all that and them some, and still bitch about the starting salary. Genentech has one of the highest salary band ranges in the industry and if you are who you say you are, and deliver the goods as promised, you'll get a good raise.
Clearly you have no understanding of or appreciation for the total benefits package here. Don't get hung up on the car allowance, it won't likely be offered in another year or two and we will have to go the company car route. During my year away, the exact same health insurance plan and coverage at the other company cost $330 more a month out of pocket, and that's just for starters.

You must be really good to get an offer before phone screens have started.

Bottom line- if Genentech wants the best of the best- they have to pay what the market demands. MS is arguably the toughest market in the industry and relationships are tough to come by. I know your company thinks they know about tough markets with Oncology but in MS we actually see Dr.'s and work full days. It is a huge difference and hard to explain if you haven't been in the MS market. Pretenders get exposed much more easily than in any other disease state. 10% increase on base is minimum if you want the best of the best.

Not so sure about this post. Phone screens are just starting, don't think any offers have been made yet. Approval is expected end of this year beginning of next. Read the news FDA Awards Breakthrough status to Ocre, that means faster review. First and only drug to work in Primary Progressive MS.

Baby anyone can do your job....this isn't rocket science. you are not worth that amount. Be happy you are working and live within a comfortable salary. No one is worried about you and paying you. Insiders were given the op to interview, don't count your chickens.
Genentech is a great company. They have never been popular with starting salaries. More things are important.
Good luck.

Doubtful sparky. True anyone can be a pharmaceutical rep but very very few are actually good at. Adding value and being the rep the Dr. turns to for answers on tough patients is rare. Most of you have no idea...

Put the shit pipe down pal. You're talking total BS.

I have heard they are gathering resumes now. The timeline is mostly set for hiring. It's amazing and funny to me that some have claimed to get an offer already. Funny stuff! Anyway, would be curious when the actual approval date is for this drug or if it has changed. Does anyone know the proposed size of field force? Managers are in place. Curious to know of when training will be.

I heard 200 sales reps. I would like to know if the offers will be contigent on FDA approval.

I was told start dates are to be mid-June. They have the time to be thorough. Phone screens for next couple weeks. Followed by face to face interviews as well as panel interviews. My understanding is that it will be a smaller sizes sales force (vs other MS companies) <150 reps nationally.

Whose left to hire? the rest of the serono folks who couldn't get on at Genzyme? or the criminal buyogen reps who can't buy off the new herd of neuros who are NOT interested in killing their ms patients? or the washed up teva losers who can't sell because they never had to? or the novartis big pharma reps from the betaseron dog days?

Novartis big pharma reps from the betaseron dog days? do you mean Bayer?

Stop asking stupid questions and just get your ass prepared if you want to be considered a serious candidate. If not, pull your name. No one here is going to help you get a job within Genentech. Either find an internal who will be a source of input or move on.

Please excuse my ignorance. I am a external candidate without a internal referral for now. I know a Medical VP and could utilize their influence if needed.

What is so great about this MS Opportunity? I laughed at the P1 question form. "Are you interviewing with anyone else and how far along are you". I would also like to circle back to the GNE CLUB. Please let me know what I am missing? Trust me I want to WANT to be in with the cool kids. To me this job just seems like an opportunity to get micro-managed. Maybe I am missing the salary part. Does anyone know what the pay is? I most likely will turn the interview down if the base is any less than 125K and a minimum of 50K bonus.

In all seriousness. My current job has its issues that's why I'm putting my name in the hat.

Any information would be appreciated and any sarcastic reply would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
