Michelle Weese

This could be a Netflix series “When comms go bad” Gordon Ramsay clone Michelle Weese comes in and sees that the Novartis kitchen is a nightmare. It’s been badly run and the boss is angry. Nasty NZZ and other low level Swiss publications are saying true things about the share price, selling buildings, firing Swiss people, Leqvio failing…, Weese comes in and micro manages good people out, she demotes good people then praises them in an email written by my cousin Vinny, Then when the media don’t write great things they fire the only person who knows what’s she doing…
In the meantime the other people who are good at talking to the media in German are fired and you’re left with third rate Maria Von Seyfried who couldn’t run a bath!

Novartis communications, public affairs and patient engagement will NEVER recover from this disastrous awful cruel process. These are highly educated professionals with deep knowledge of their subject matter. The reason why the Swiss press don't like Vas is because he doesn't speak the language and treats them like second class citizens. The Swiss journalists are hugely intelligent and thorough and he doesn't like them asking questions.
I couldn’t agree more. Being an English native speaker is pretty much the only qualification many NVS managers have. I’m sick and tired of so many of these incompetent and useless f….rs!

Season One: “The Corporate Affairs Heist.”

In 2024, $$$ millions went toward sketchy shit including:

Hiring loyal and lightweight BMS buddies for senior global roles over experienced talent who understand “global” means more than living in New Jersey.

Lavish 5-star hotels (+VIP upgrades) in Barcelona, Lisbon, and soon NYC for the bogus “predictive” leaders off-sites.

Michelin-star restaurants, plus a bunch of new leaders families grifting on the company dime in Lisbon.

A new corporate affairs culture that encourages 1st-class transatlantic travel for bullshit meetings that should be done on Teams.

No doubt there’s a shitload more.

Predictive…. “forward planning” that’s what everyone else calls it.
Predictive such nonsense thought up by Michelle trying to piggy back off FMCG ideas that you cannot do in pharma due to the highly regulated environment.
The ABPI and EFPiA are watching very closely as Novartis is continually breaking their respective codes with promotional or borderline promotional posts and content.

Ben and Klaus are watching… surely an audit triggered by a call to the speak up line…..?

Totally fake news!

We have pictures to prove it
Audit and compliance are horrified at the amount of wastage by comms on pointless “get togethers” Lisbon was a lesson in how not to spend money during austerity and when many good people have lost their jobs as a result of predictive which is the biggest pile of s@@t i’ve ever seen.

Nearly time for Davos. Is Michelle‘s husband part of the Novartis entourage again this year?

The PR firm is back from their Holidays to defend Michelles reputation.

So transparent, so desperate. We all know the truth and no amount of lies and storytelling will spin
They're so bad at it. It's astonishing to watch them bungle this so badly. They (or is it one person?) have managed to blow up a few simple complaint posts into a massive story. It's a case study in how NOT to do crisis PR, which doesn't speak well of MW or her flying monkeys. You would almost wonder if they're actually working against MW.

And this group has been going on since 23rd October. It is ridiculous that this shambles in Novartis comms has been allowed to go on for so long. She’s not a protected species.

Why is she on cafepharma?
How thin-skinned can you be?
95% of the discourse on this site would embarrass a toddler, but a high-level executive feels the need to read comments on a fifth-rate message board?
And respond, anonymously, with posts that read like they were written by a defective Russian bot?
I won't say its a surprise. Novartis is always gonna Novartis.

What exactly has changed under Weese?

Has the relationship with media improved?

No it is worse

What about new opportunities with the media that are earned rather than bought?

Not seeing Vas or any of the other leaders doing anything different.

What about financial comms and relations with analysts?

Share price is moving in the wrong direction and having the head of finance comms in NJ rather than Basel is not making a big difference.

What about relationships with policymakers and patient groups?

Having everyone in PA apply for their jobs and a fractured patient engagement approach means these relationships will take time to repair or rebuild. Patient groups in CML are furious the way they’ve been treated.

I have never seen anything quite like this in all my years in corp affairs.
