Mark S gone?







you know you r right - how in the world did they select this person to fill the role? i know better people they could have chosen.

Not to defend, but who else in Pharmaderm can do it? TP? SC? TK? SB? BS? DB????? Really, none of them, including MD have the right skillset. The real mistake is going the iterim route. MS would have been better over a couple more months until someone was found vs. the total disruption this is creating. Seems like a text book case of how NOT to run a business. DF must be laughing his a$$ off right about now......
 






Mark knew many of us by name. Name me one person in that company that knew any of us better. Its impossible to ride w/ all 117 so if you didnt have him ride with you sorry but he cant be everywhere. He did ride with me once and Im on the west coast and it was a very positive experience. Also the guy was just let go yesterday so the fact he hasnt reached out to you is ridiculous. Also if you are posting negative maybe he knew that about you and thats the reason why he didnt reach out. Also unless you knew Mark for awhile you shouldnt even comment. I knew him for 2 years and he was always pleasant and a good leader. He cared about us that I know for a FACT.
 












For me I am fairly new and from what I saw MS was a good leader. Sent out a birthday card to every rep on their b-day. I thanked him one time and he took the time to talk to me. He said you are welcome for the card and said he wished he could send more like a little gift card or something but it was against company policy. He did the little things that mattered. At meetings he was always pleasant. Understand when you have 117 people wanted to talk to you its hard to talk to everyone on a substantial level. He will show up again and for those of us who show we cared and really did he will know that. I for one would work for him again in a heart beat. I have been in this industry for years as a rep and all my former VPs were stuffy and dont talk to to anyone. Atleast Mark was pleasant and a leader and took the time to try and do the right things
 












Cant stand all the haters but thats to be expected I guess thats what this board is about. Many of you commenting Id like to see what you would have done in MS's position. Its all the same people that watch football on Sunday and scream at the TV. Question for you "why" are you not out there playing. Same thing here why are you not in sales management. Oh thats right I guess you just want to be a rep lol. Say what you want you are here because he hired you. No one is perfect no one. He was loyal to me and always made it a point to talk to the reps. He knew his stuff. But instead of bitching lets see what happens. Lets see the turnover before MS and after. Before all I know it was extremely low. Well below pharma standards. Lets see now. I can tell you this based on the calls I am receiving reps many are going to start to look. MS brought many great reps over with him from Doak and remained loyal. Ya at the end of the day you had to perfrom but thats the way it should be. I can tell you this the reps who liked MS far far outweight those that didnt.

I'm in another area of the company (Mfg), but you guys have been put through the mill a few times over the last four years. Other departments have paid a price, but none as great as you guys.
Very hasty move, no fall-back plan, interim replacement...some a-hole decided that Mark had to go immediately. Why?
 






Are we all new to working. Name a bunch of people who do like the guy who hires and fires everynbody meaning the boss. In MS's I am sure there are people who dont like him thats normal but his popularity is greater than most bosses. Just think about all the change he had to deal with over the past 3 years. Several different bosses all of whom had different ideas and wanted to make their mark. You think that was easy to deal with. You try woking for that many people in that short period of time. Through it all though he stayed positive and say what you want he was a great buffer. I can only imagine the crap that was thrown around about not hitting those ridiculous quotas. Mark took the majority of the blow and tried to motivate as best he could. Think back to his v-mails they were pretty darn positive all the while you know he was getting crap. Whens the last time you heard a motivating v-mail from marketing. All MD did was bitch and moan and blame everyone else for Solaraze. MD wake up you are the brand manager here and at Bradley. You have owned that product the longest. What have you done. Oh thats right get your materials pulled and put a picture of the ocean on your sales piece. Give me a break
 












amen is RIGHT. Haters go hate some where else. I have worked under MS for 10 years and he has ridden with me many times and no I am not in NY or NJ. He alsways took the time to entertain my docs when we could do that and get to know them. My docs loved him and he was personable. After his visits my docs would Rx more. Granted he couldnt be everywhere but name any one else from PD that rode in the field and if they did it had a negative effect. MS was a GREAT leader and when he did ride with me he was honest and told me my strengths and where I needed to improve. He was honest but in a positive manner. Thats what we will miss the most people trust me telling you whats wrong or needs to improve but doing it in a positive manner. Thats what made MS valuable. He will be missed by those that know anything. For those that are negative just watch and see what happens know.
 






"Our sales numbers suck" do they now. Do they suck vs. those ridiculous quotas or do they suck vs. the competition. If your answer is vs. quota you are right. HMMMM do you think those quotas are accurate, do you think MS came up with them. No they were pushed down. Cmon people wake up. So you are an original PD employee?? Then you remember MM and how supportive he was. He would come up to everyone that he saw at a meeting and and ask how it was with us and what could he do to make it better for us to work and grow business. Another thing - he listened. We had computers originally. We just did samples on paper but I knew sig on line would be coming in the future. Inventory was sooo much better controlled then and they actually worked. I loved the small dermatology company since I started my career in that environment but a I am afraid those days are long gone. Boy how things have changed since the Altana days. Wish MS well - maybe after reading the pros and cons concerning his leadership, he will pick up a few pointers.
 






Give me a break MM. He didnt have to work in the new PD environment. He would have got crushed. Why do you thing PM didnt keep him. You have no clue. If you are so great and why are you not in sales management. Go look in the mirror. When you are at MS level than throw stones. YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE. Why MS probably didnt you give the time of day. Go bitch some where else. We know what we had in MS. If you love MM so much where did he turn up? If you hate it here so much why didnt he help you get a job? Why didnt you follow him? Many people followed MS that says something. Go get a life or better yet go call MM
 






First off the positive messages way out way the negative here on MS but for those few haters I want to share with you a story. I recently had something unfortunate happen in my life and I had to tell my DM who in turn had to tell MS. I honestly thought that would be the end of it. Well it wasnt. That night MS called me personally to see how I was doing and asked me if I needed anything. He then followed it up with a hand written note (and no BO didnt write it because it came from his address). The note was well written and he totally made my day. I actually saw that he cared. Well it didnt end there about a month later he called to check in on me and he did it in the evening on his own time. i was very touched by this and no I had no real previous attachment to MS in fact only had met him a few times. His kindness will stay with me forever and you will go far and wide to find someone that would do what he did. Say waht you want but he loved the reps and did what he could. So for the few haters out there You are WRONG. MS is a stand up guy and did care. Wait now and you will see the difference.
 






Another poster mentioned that he cried at a NSM because a Bradley rep won Pres. Club and I do remember that and made me gag. He didn't shed nary a tear for any PD reps.

Who ever wrote that again has no clue. It just shows he does care. This particular rep MS hired personally and helped her in her career. Shows he cares people and hes human. Reason I know this story is because the person who won shared it with me. People get your facts straight and for all those legacy PD reps if you didnt like MS or didnt like it here why didnt you leave? Me for one I am a legacy PD rep and did like MS. Theres anough negatve crap in this world go spew your bs some where else.
 






Let's face it, mark did a decent job. What do you think the under-over is on the next guy being better for the average rep? We all know this is going to get worse, not better. Say what you want about Mark, the real problem is not whether mark was good, great or not so good. The real problem is now facing us head on.
