Mallinckrodt/inVentiv Monday, 12-2-13, Onboarding Conference Call

wrong. it has everything to do with an honest and honorable guy at the top.
relax. quit trying to figure it all out. too many factors and too many possible scenarios.
that's where believing in the head 'honcho' comes in.
this is, and will be, a great gig.
after selling in Pain for 7 years, i know it ain't easy and if you can't handle that, go back to the POD and big Pharma advertising to pave your way.

I'm not the OP but I understand what the poster was saying. No matter how great the individual is, Mallinckrodt calls the shots on the contract. You missed the mark about the original post. It wasn't about not being able to handle the pain market etc. it was about the "why" moving forward until the product is approved made sense. The waiting is not fun but to take a job and then later find out that it is I no go later.

Keep drinking the kook aid.

You missed the point. It's not Tom Bonk who controls the destiny ; it's Mallinckrodt. More likely it was due to some tax break they would get to write off the recruiting fees etc. none of the companies do what is right for the rep. They have their own agenda. It's nice it worked out for the reps in this situation.

There will be more opportunities for inventiv reps because I know of 4 maybe 5 that will be leaving before or at the first of the year.

I miss nothing. Never alluded that it was TB, only that he was privy to whatever was actually going on.
You can attribute their motives to any cynical reason you want. You are free to do that and, hell, you might be right.
I listen to the words spoken and I believe them or I don't, based on my 'take' of the individuals involved. Good people might have to perform unsavory tasks and deliver bad news at times, but they don't cloak it in self serving BS.
As to your friends who will not wait... presumably it's because they found a better opportunity - good for them! They aren't leaving because they're mad at the delay.

I think the above poster was talking about Mallinckrodt reps are leaving and therefore there will be more opening since they would be replaced with an Inventiv reps. I know some people who work directly for Mallinckrodt that are presently looking for new opportunities. Many are tired of the pain market, don't like their new territory , or are ready for a change.

Mallinckrodt reps do not want to be primary care reps (period)

Primary care write a lot of 'as needed' acute pain opioids. a lot of them moonlight at urgent care places. ED docs, and ANY surgeon will also use a lot. Pain docs are a market too, but there, you're going after a 'rescue' med - adjunct to a chronic pain opioid.
You go where the business is and they will let us know who we can call on. I am a Pain rep and have been for 10 years.
