Major Re-Structuring

Stay tuned for more details, but here's the word coming out of East Hanover:

Dallas and Chicago offices will close at year end
We will consolidate to two General Medicine areas, East & West
Finance has begun to map a sales force of roughly 850-1000 reps for the post-Diovan world.
National meeting planned for January has been canceled due to new structure being put in place and the need to have smaller meetings to allow the teams to integrate.
If you are displaced, you will get two weeks pay for every year of service with 20 weeks min.
If over 55, and 10 years service, you may get enhanced retirement, but requirements will be very strict.

What is the timeline that we are looking at for the layoffs?

There is no way they will continue with this chaos, uncertainty and horrible morale until Labor Day. End of November 1st week December for sure. The sooner the better the waiting game is getting old.

I heard from an insider at Novartis HR that this major downsizing is going to take place around Labor Day.

Isn't that special...................especially since you say this 4 weeks AFTER Labor Day 2011, so that raises several possibilities -

1) your post and/or the first post in this thread are both TOTAL BULLSHIT

2) You are confusing Labor Day with some other holiday upcoming, so take your pick -

Yom Kippur

Columbus Day

Halloween

Veteran's Day

Thanksgiving

Christmas

Kwanzaa

any others?

3) You could also mean Labor Day 2012?

Care to defend your statement?

Go ahead and make jokes. You'll see who the joke is on. Get ready people, Arcapta is accounted for with no need of Primary Care promotional help. No Diovan, Reclast is on the way out the door......what's left????? MMMMMMM??? Exforge?9&%$ are you kidding me!!!
Exelon Patch, and Tekturna family???? Really???? 2-3 per territory. Do the math.

I don't doubt for a second that there is justification for the sales force size for Novartis being at or even below 1000. Look at what product potential Sandoz had back in 1996 with it's product portfolio. Sandoz, along with the contract Innovex sales force which launched Lamisil, did it with 900 reps. Ciba, before the merger had a similar sales force size. Back then the sales atmosphere was breathable and isn't it pretty toxic today? So sub 1000 in
mass market is very, very believable given the current product mix and the current playing field.

Just questioning the speculation as to when.
