It's sad, really, that the shysters have to get in their first and muck it all up for the rest of us, as routine large-scale genomic screening for tumor biomarkers offer the best hope for there ever being a "cure" for cancer. Once it gets large enough to cross the threshold of current imaging capabilities (~1cm^3,) it's already spread; and once it finally causes noticeable symptoms in the patient, enough to seek medical treatment, it's often gone too far for anything but a semi-targeted Hail Mary approach.
