Life After Labcorp

How much admin responsibility is on sales? or how much time do we actually get to sell?

There are spreadsheets to track spreadsheets. mandatory monthly role plays on camera, and graded by people who haven’t been in the field for years, conference calls at the most inconvenient times, you chase specimens that the lab lost, lost by FEDEX, or forgot to pick up, calm down clients because lead times suck, customer service is a joke, and PSCs look like third world clinics. Most of your job is fixing lab screw ups. People are dead on the inside.

Anyone else validate this?

This is 100%accurate, Salesforce is implemented by administrators who have never spent a minute selling or would have the ability to sell. Leadership is weak, sales comp is a joke, they only want reports and data. This is NOT a Sales organization. It is a data collection organization that shits on the heads of the people, sales comp is non-existent, it’s the end of 1st quarter and reps don’t know how they are paid. Run anywhere else if you truly want to sell something of value, or sell at all for that matter.

I would agree with the comment on culture. It seems you get different answers depending on who you ask on even simple thing. Lots of egos. Marketing is a bright spot. They do a good job for Sales. But beyond that, I would classify the culture as toxic and woke in many ways. For a large company they don’t have their shit together.

This isn't a woke company. They should be, it would have a much better culture if it were. Not even close though.

How is the Kansas City division doing? I heard they landed a pretty sizable acct recently. Thinking about a job there.

Okay. Good training for first lab job. But depends on your manager/director. You’ll be doing fire drills due to customer service not being able to get a hold of customers and lab screw up. Worklife balance doesn’t exist.

Get ready for constant cheese you business phrases like delight, rabbit hole, feeding from the fire hose, synergy, and more. Constant meetings and lower pay compared to other companies. Leadership could be improved. Sales Force isn’t the best. I Like the testing, and still decent company. Don’t get your hopes up.

Record earnings and the clear national front runner! Who needs a Sales Force.

Life is sweeter. Pay is better. People actually enjoy their job. Nothing is perfect. Every company has it’s issues.

But, I don’t find LabCorp to be the most ethical or caring. It’s all about the profit and what new twist we can put on an old test that may or may not be relevant or needed. Let’s find a way to bill it for more. I don’t find them anymore transparent than any other shady lab. If you work at LabCorp, you’re a number, not a person. If you see the way they treat the lab employees, it’s no wonder they can’t get or keep good lab techs or phlebotomists. The Patient Service Centers just are depressing and in the worst places with the cheapest rent and bad neighborhoods.

I am happy to see the Covid19 gravy train end. LabCorp had a great run with it. The Government paid them very well. Too well. Just another version of Pfizer. Not good management or leadership.

There is life after LabCorp. Places that don’t lose specimens all the time, better training, better marketing, management not throwing reps under buses when they fail, and treat you like a human being.

It makes me want to take a shower after being there. The reputation from other labs are that LabCorp had some good tests, but not innovative and treat their people like crap. Too big to care about patients or employees. Go to the light.
