Let's unionize!!!

Rather than vote for a union, I would (and did) vote with my feet and leave Amgen. Our country is one of opportunity, even in this economy. Amgen is losing many talented, smart, honest, hardworking people (me excluded) who are realizing the pit it has become and that life is too short to work in a pit.

I'm with you. So much better than they "poor me", cry baby mentality! Create a union?! Unions are for losers who think they're worth more than they are. Union... Hahahahahahahahahahaha!! Good luck with that. Make sure your first strike is a short one. Management will have so many peole to fill your spots they'll be up-and-trained before you get done with your manicure.

I don't think that unions are all that great BUT Boeing just announced (today) that the regular employees (non union) will be paying more than the union members for health benefits. And it appears to be significant.

Three cheers for OBAMA and his ability to take care of his Democrat base! You've got to love a President that destroys corporations that drive this country's economy.

It's the people that drives the corporations. People like you and me that provide the goods and services, not the upper management money horders. Plus we not only do the essential work we also buy the drugs as the consumers. Quit thinking small mini-me.

You're half right. The PEOPLE do the work, sell the goods and services... that's for certain. But, it's the company that EMPLOYS the people that enables them to have goods or services to sell. Without the companies (those who are willing to take the risks, invent products, invest in manufacturing, etc) there would be no goods or services and, therefore, jobs. You may not like the way things are run, but without those evil corporations you wouldn't have that fleet vehicle, salary, and benefits. I used to think the way you do until I started my own small business for my spouse. After a plethora of HR issues my perspective changed.

It's always better if you can work on your own. You are in charge, and take full responsibility of the daily and future operation. You can turn on a dime and not have to wait while the company wades through all sorts of red tape to get where you are as the sole operator.

I did, and made a very handsome income.

however.... for the rest of us minions, we are asking for a decent work environment. We would trust that a company, such as Amgen, would provide that to us. Unfortunately, these greedy b**turds want to "third world" their sales force. Plus, leaving is not an option, because the industry has colluded and we are finding ourselves in a self-serving oligarchy. Therefore, it necessitates the joining of our devalued circumstances to form a protective medical sales union. It called "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!!!!"

Would you and the others like to have a complete examination of all the sales departments? I do know that the company has done many investigations to make sure that the employees are treated as managers would be treated.

This is insulting!! How about you and the TO numskulls do an investigation into the micromanage third world treatment of your sales force? Don't ask the hand-picked managers, ask you "man-on-the-street".

How could this be "insulting"? Please re-read the post. It does not say, investigate how well the "managers" are treated. I'm talking about the sales force in the field.

Sincerely, with all due respect to your intelligent suggestion, you really have no idea as to what you are talking about.

There is such a lack of trust between Amgen sales field personnel and our management that what would something like this accomplish? Honestly, we would welcome your suggestion to be carried out, but Sales Management would object to this vehemently. However, I guarantee that most of us in the field would take the high road (the one with no Silo) and Do the Right Thing, in this case be honest, positive and offer constructive criticism in an attempt to build some type of a foundation of mutual respect and transparency....

Since Prolia's approval, field contact rides with DM have become good material for the Twlight Zone, but bad material for me/teammates (constant work withs, questioning of every call, calling our offices yet not taking our calls, and so forth)..I have read FCR's, completed a week after work with, that would make Perez Hilton proud. Misrepresentation of events, positive customer feedback downplayed or ommittted or even worse my DM taking credit for it, stating we can't quote publications even though DM cites these constantly).

I don't think this DM/REP interaction motivates anyone. My pre-school kids have more autonomy. Our team basically feels same way-none are happy and all are looking. However, the HR Horror stories would prevent me from discussing concerns in how my manager is representing me to Corporate. DM deals with HR constantly, I am "lucky" if I would even recognize my HR contact in the same room unless their picture on Amgen website is less than a year old.

The transparency here on the S&M side of the biz has become stained with a thick blanket of insecurity, with an atmosphere of CYA so thick that the adults running the show should just ditch their Depends and let everyone in on their belief that their shyt smells like a Bucket of Roses....

Thank you for your input. Don't you think this is worth a try? If no one gives it a go, then for sure we shall keep the status quo. Bitching and griping without it moving up the line, is just and empty bucket!

Such a genius remark! No wonder we are doing so poorly. You must be with executive management.

executive management does not want us to even talk about this. Ignore the subterfuge.

The real issue is are we going come together as a group to address our concerns. Yes or no?
What bastard has a problem with that, other than greedy upper management?

Amgen refuses to address our grievances as sales people, and leaving is not the answer! We're in american people, not Croatia!

This company does not want to listen. So we have to support each other and drive this company to the negotiation table.

Either you deal with us fairly, or we go to the investors and explain how they will not see a return on their investment. Can you say short.

Sad but true.

If you desire to unionize Amgen Sales force, then this will be the final nail in the coffin of a once great company.

So, contact SEIU offices in Washington, D.C.

http://www.seiu.org/a/become-a-member-political-organizer.php

It is not easy, but is doable.

You don't need card check, just enough passion to organize.

That's the best part of this thread! These people have enough passion to get on an anonymous board to complain, but they don't have the spine to get out and organize. Typical pharma mentality. Bitch and complain, but don't actually make anything happen (whether it's building a union or selling something). I'll believe it when I see it! Though their work hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm should provide plenty of time to organize, I doubt they are committed enough to see it through. It takes more thought and planning than inviting docs to a dinner program and, therefore, will never get done. Besides, it would interfere with their work/life balance to undertake such an initiative and they would have no one to complain to!

Maybe a union won't be needed after we hear on Monday that Prolia isn't quite up to snuff, and they wish they could declare a long awaited/overdue, regular dividend, but they need to buy back more shares that will drop again. So far, throughout this meaningless exercise, buybacks have done zip for price appreciation. But, a nice dividend would cheer us all.

Ladies and gentlemen, are we looking at a doubtful future? From all I have seen, YES !!!!!!! I hope I am wrong!

What a bunch of pussy losers. You pharma idiots think you know how to sell, impact patient lives, blah, blah, blah. Spewing the same efficacy data points from a sales aid over lunch in a 30 person office is NOT selling. You're pathetic. Unionize?! LOL! True union leaders would help you get setup, but only so they can get your dues. They'd be laughing at you behind your backs.
