Let's List All The Things We Do Not Get With Contract

We get to deal with douche bags like you who think they are some sort of 'upper class' citizen

What they should say during the interview is, "expect your biweekly overhead to be double or triple what you have now, and the base salary will never increase to keep pace with inflation. Bonuses are non-existent and a joke at best. And the contract can end at any time." Those who take contract jobs are typically buying time until they can get a direct sales job.

When I joined the ranks of contract I realized what a huge step down I was taking. I was aware the pay was very low. I did not realize how horrible the respect level was, that we are all thought of as temps and losers that could not get anything else. To be honest, I would not be a contract rep. if could get something else I just couldn't. I struggle with the bills and know it was the worst mistake I have ever made.

You control your own attitude and destiny, so upgrade your job. The expectations on contract reps is similar to direct sales, except your total compensation is HALF.

There's nothing wrong working at inVentiv, you just have to know what to expect before you join.

If you have accepted and are working a contract that is one thing. We are ruined goods. If you still have a chance and have not accepted RUN LIKE HELL. These positions are dead end, temporary labor and the pay is like minimum wage. You cannot possibly live on this kind of money.

Run like a cheetah, run run run...............................

What I find irritating is that everyone keeps saying that contract reps are "the wave of the future in pharma sales" but why is it that anytime there is a layoff that has both direct reps and contract reps, the contract reps are the first to get cut...makes no sense if cutting costs are the reason for the layoffs in the first place!!

It just makes us feel better. Those of us working these contracts want to believe it sucks this bad for everyone.

Find a job on the side, and all is good.

This "career" is truly over for most of us. Seems like the only people that get hired are robots too.

So sad that many of us invested all this time into an industry that is the laughing stock of the sales profession.
