Leadership gaslighting you

You realize that the whole point of ecosystems, customer engagement and blah blah is just one thing: restructuring, downsizing and cuts.

They will tell you to have XYZ mindset. They will tell you the future is bright. They will tell you they are doing it for you - for your development and growth.

While all BA is really doing is delivering on his promise to BOD and SS: Genentech will maintain its margins no matter what happens with biosimilars and launches.

Genentech has never faced a patent cliff before. When other companies face such a point: they buy something, they sell themselves or they do a larger merger of equals —- or they go through multiple rounds of restructurings. These options, at face value, weren’t the “Genentech way” so they had to come up with another idea. So the idea was to shuffle everything around - create chaos, chnage and uncertainty. This allowed them to break existing processes, loyalty, teams, culture and mindset. The goal of this shuffling was it created an environment to be able to justify the cuts and trim the fat so BA could deliver on his promises.

Will things change? No, not in the near term. Leadership will tell you they have ever confidence in customer engagement and ecosystem model. They will tell you it’s better for you. If you’re savvy - play along and they’ll reward you. That’s part of the gaslighting process - creating 360 surround sound around the hold outs. It will keep going on until one thing happens: Genentech returns to positive topline growth in the US. This will happen in 2022 or 2023. Until then, expect further cuts, changes and shuffling - its all just downsizing with another name.

You can blame leadership. They didn’t have a choice. I would have preferred them be straightforward instead of doing this gaslighting thing they are doing but hey, what do I know?

While I think they are definitely gaslighting everyone, you are giving too much credit to their process. The company is simply taken hostage by a few greedy and progressive pseudo-intellects who think they are smarter than everyone else. What they miscalculated is that no one in this industry is buying their crap. They were hoping that everyone else was going follow them to cut their field forces to save money. Now they just simply chopped their own legs while everyone is racing with 4 wheels. Also, they have not even seen the wrath from all the institutions that were screwed by Genentech a few years ago when they killed their channels. They will drop the 3 kings like a rock in an New York minute. Their never seem to learn from their arrogance and it is coming back to bite them. Karma is a bit_h!

I will gladly buy the BS and smile until the Covid issues settle down and re evaluate. If they offer a package in two years so be it.. I can only listen to mr and mrs brownie for so long.. and there is it a lot of them left and they are already sharpening their knives.

I hope they will start picking up the copay for our psychotherapy sessions and psychiatrist visits. They are really trying to screw everyone's head. This turns out to be the worst company I have ever worked.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Sing it Rick, baby.

now you’re talking like them! You should apply for a DM role in the ecosystem.

I bought a ticket to the world
But now I've come back again
Why do I find it hard to write the next line?
Oh, I want the truth to be said
I know this much is true
I know this much is true
This much is true
This much is true
This much is true
I know, I know, I know this much is true
This much is true
This much is true
This much is true
This much is true
I know this much is true

Open up your mind and let me step inside
Rest your weary head and let your heart decide
It's so easy when you know the rules
It's so easy
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game, everybody play the game!

Shit hit the fan as soon as BA took over. After he got back from GPS, his focus was on $$$ and margin. And since 2016 that's all we've been doing: cut cut cut and profits profits profits.

There are literally hundreds of people that sit around in Basel. Pontificating the future of healthcare as they collect tons of $$$ and benefits. All these people are distant and far from the customers. Global makes pipeline decisions using textbooks (not real world) and these products don't translate into US market.

We save money here in the US. Sends checks to Basel so they can sit around and do nothing while we do all the hard work and deliver all the profits.

LISTEN. IF I HAD ONE THING TO SAY TO BASEL, IT WOULD BE THIS: stop killing the goose that lays the golden egg, you idiots.

no way we grow in near term. everything in pipeline would have to work for us to grow. In reality our hit rate is 50% at best. Did you see what happen in tnbc???

How did we miss so badly on our pipeline..There is no innovation in oncology. Very sad. Our hold pipeline is just trying to make little changes in existing molecules. Even our bi-specific is just further twist on Gazyva.. after Covid this place is going to be a ghost town.
