Layoffs coming

Just look at the facts. Prevacid and its' $4 billion in revenue are gone just a couple of short years ago. Soon Actos at its' $4 billion in sales will be gone. To fill that we have come out with 3 products that at most will be $600 million in sales. Takeda reduced the company/sales force by 28%. With actos gone soon our gross sales will have fallen 84% in the past three years. So what else could be done other than massive layoffs before actos goes generic? Use your heads people. It's comming. Only the fools will be surprised!

Only fools use the word "comming" instead of "coming". You're wrong.

"We need everyone in this room."

The ain't the gov't comment....you need to think bigger picture. Why do you think all of managed care is pushing generics? The gov't certainly has a big hand in it. Look at Medicare. There is so much pressure from the gov't on these managed care companies. They want to be competitive too. It is a problem from every angle. Layoffs are coming.

Exactly how does the gov't tell the managed care company what to do? The pressure is in the form of return to shareholders, profits and increasing the number of lives they manage while paying as little as possible. Pharma is the only place they can wield a sharp knife and not upset contracts with physician groups and hospitals.

Perhaps you're a mandantory generic state but other than that the managed care companies can do as they please. And FYI Medicare is a government run program which operates at <2% overhead. Check out the salaries of a United or Aetna CEO.

Here is what we do agree on; See you in the unemployment line. Maybe I can pitch a tent with the Occupy Wall Street folks real soon.

Okay you are naive if you think the gov't has NO say in managed care. Think about the HUGE concessions pharma "gave" to to salvage medicare and "close the donut hole" for patients. Every heard of a D plan? Yes, medicare is gov't run that we agree on and yes mgd care companies are hogs we agree again...but check your facts about the rest...the pressure from managed care to the pharma companies is fueled by the gov't too...it's all a big circle of influence. Lobbyists, back door deals...what gets approved etc. think about it
