Law Suites Coming!

Check out last post from "Glaxo....Anyone received offers"

My brother is a contract lawyer. I showed him all correspondence of email and hard copy offer letter. Even though this is an "at will" employment situation, inVentive is still liable if you can prove that you passed on another employment opportunity or gave notice to your current employer since the offer states a starting date and an agreed upon salary. This constitutes a legal binding contract because the only contingencies are passing a background and drug screen. You can and should contact Sterling to find out if you have passed both background and drug screen. They will try not to tell you but by law they are required to and they know this. Check with Sterling via written request to get your info. If you have passed both then you have a "solid case". First thing Monday morning find yourself a lawyer and they will be more than happy to take this case. You have a very good chance at getting triple what you would have made from the offers you turned down, your current job that you quit, or the offer made by inVentive, whichever is the greatest, for three years since that was the agreed time of the inVentive contract. Example- inVentive offer was $80,000 x 3 years = $240,000 x triple damages = $760,000

Yes they do, but they are banking on everyone to take this lying down and accept the BS spin they put on it and the few who don't well they will just settle with them. Better to settle and pay off a few than go through with the contract that would cost them millions. You can be sure that the terms of the settlement have already been made to inVentive and the few board members will get rich off this while the hundreds of reps whose lives and families are destroyed will get nothing....that is unless you have the brains and balls to go after the settlement that you are entitled to

And good luck getting a job after that. Doesn't seem worth it to me. But hey we live in the world where people are sue happy. I would think this one over before filing anything.

I am assuming they are reviewing and realigning territories. They have probably been looking at diabetes market sales volume and 'call work loads' in all the territories. Not all GSK territories are now getting an inVentiv counterpart. It's like participating in a corporate re-org where we have to stay at home and wait for 'the call' --and we haven't even started drawing a pay check! Some reps may also be reporting to a different realigned district manager? Start dates delayed?

First of all, it's "lawsuits".
Second, shit happens. Get on with your life.

Thanks. OP here. Wanted to get as many replies as possible and I knew there would be a handful of you know it alls that literally couldn't stand not to correct a misspelled word. Sad but so predictable. Thanks for the post and spelling lesson!

So you call yourself a salesperson, but when "shit happens" you just roll over and don't put up a fight? Yeah, and I'll bet you claim to be a multiple President's Club award winner, too.

My point being that when you file a lawsuit over something like this you appear to be a whiner and cry baby. Is that really the rep you want? Why would any other company want to hire you? Yeah, this is disappointing to me too, however, here's an idea---> instead of expecting a big payday due to unforeseen circumstances, suck it up, get online, and see what else is out there.

We were hired for a job starting June 1. Many people signed all the paperwork and passed all the contingencies listed ion the offer letter. Candidates also gave their notice, this is wrong on every level.
Let's just hope they make it right.

I hope so. It's been a long weekend. Who knows when we will receive the next communication. It's amazing how much can change in a week. Excitement about signing an offer letter, going through typical onboarding stuff, and then this BS about a reevaluation of sales force deployment comes out. The message sounds like were robots without feelings, family that depends on us, and that we can just sit around and wait until we hear the news. I'm sure GSK has thrown a wrench in the system, but why would they wait until were a few weeks away from starting to suddenly change things?

Having a good lawyer send a Demand for Payment letter is not going to follow you on any background check. We will not only be losing salary, but now have to go sign up for insurance coverage, which is very expensive. We could be faced with months of unemployment in this job market. We interviewed in good fatih, if the company did not act in good faith, they are responsible for that.

An offer letter doesn't constitute a legal contract of guaranteed employment. Read your offer letter closely. They put all of us in a shitty situation, but legally you have no grounds to compensation. Were "at will" employees that can be let go at anytime, which includes prior to our listed start date of June 1.

huh? How would another company know you sued?

Are these 2 bedroom suites or 3 bedroom suites.

My lawyer (my sister) wants to know so she can file a law SUIT!.

You just can fix stupid, right OP?

lol[/

I know your sister and she definitely knows her way around a bedroom suite!

And your right stupid can't be fixed, but I just hope your sister's back can be!

And btw, I realize that I ended that last sentence with a preposition, but if you just can't stand it go ahead and correct me.

I know his sister too. Just like her brother, always correcting me..."wrong hole" "you didn't pull out in time" "you got that all in my hair again".....ALWAYS correcting!

Is anyone planning to file a lawsuit? I have consulted an attorney and my state is not the greatest regarding protection of "at will" employees. Just wanted to see if people are seeking professional advise or just accepting the lump sum and moving on.
