Of course gender played a role in the layoffs! The ratings over the years were based upon gender discriminatory practices. Men received higher ratings than the women, especially at the rep and FLM management levels (even when they performed better). So, when looking at ratings more women were let go than males and more women FLMs were placed in rep positions than there male counterparts. This means more women reps let go and more women FLMs let go or placed in rep positions.
The biggest joke, take a look at management within Novartis..Mostly men... Over 80% men or higher at the MD level and the same with the FLM level! Anyone who can't see that women are a clear minority and have been discriminated against especially in management roles needs glasses.. Women are placed in admin or secretarial roles, maybe marketing if they are lucky! Management= men at Novartis, especially at higher levels.. and female = low level placement. Take a real look around you.. MD level almost all men... FLM level very high level of men..Rep level and below more women. More women FLMs were placed in rep positions as they were not rated equally to the men.
It's interesting we had this gender discrimination law suit that the women clearly won..But it's more obvious than ever that Novartis doesn't care and there is more separation of men and the top and women in lower positions than ever. As new management roles come up at all levels..MD, FLMs, they will continue to place men in these roles...
Men are given more opportunities for advancement and better ratings to be advanced or retained. There should be a new law suit regarding this is very clear!

True. They are negotiating on behalf of a few individuals...seems like They are sticking to gender issues though.
