law firm investigating layoffs

If the law firm has any brains they would look at number of layoffs that had pension rights vs. non-pension lay-offs. You had better odds of winning lottery that having those stats. CALL ME

When did we switch from a 12/31 year end to a 9/30 year end? If in 2008 and Performance Ratings were based only upon 9 months of data it seems that a case could be made by anyone receiving a "1" rating that their potential to get a "2" or better was compromised by the shorter period evaluated. Particularly true if they had a strong October thru December at the end of 08. Something to consider in respect to any class action lawsuit.
 






I am one of those who spoke with this partcular law firm out of DC area last week. Has anyone received any update on the status of the investigation? There is a deadline upcoming soon to sign and mail out the severence package, but I was told by the law firm they negotiated an extension of that deadline with Novartis, although I have not heard a confirmation of that either. Anyone have any updates or willing to share the nature of their conversation with this firm?
 












In the discrimination lawsuit the payout is 20K max and that is if you were employed over the entire 10 yrs. You could get an additional 14K if you can prove discrimiation ( ex...you documented something with HR). Take the severence. Even if a lawsuit occurs, the chances of it being a huge settlement are rare. Even if the settlement was like the discrimination lawsuit, you end up with no more, or even less, money that the severence.

Just food for thought. Novartis is a huge company and we are just numbers to them. I do not think they treat employees well. The above note is simply fact!

I can collect severence which is probable same or higher than your "Sales Consultant" salary, sue with the EEOC, and get paid from my new company. The reason you were not displaced is because you have dirty knees. (I take it you and your DM are both males?)

The managers at Nov* are trained to not believe a word that comes out of our mouths. Just a horrible horrible environment. Getting let go was the best thing that ever happened to me, and you will eventually come to realize this as well. Just move on and get happy for once

I guess the poster had seen/heard enough from those immature individuals that want to say nasty things about others and did the same. Some people have to be pushed into a corner to react negatively...other's just do it because of immaturity. I agree with the poster's comments but dipping as low as the person he/she was refering to went a little far. People should realize as the poster stated that this is a site for people to communicate with one another about possitive and negative aspects of their employment, employer, and employees. Foul language and name calling is immature at the least and should be reserved for those mentioned by the poster. Maybe a new website, CAFE IMMATURITY,COM could be used for those types.

You should have been laid off loser. Who made money on the last class action. Who settled on appeal on the last class action? who got $95-million on the last class action. Get your own lawyer. They are look at your region, your geography, and your district. they will file title 7 to get go ahead on civil action. Did you know in NY you can sue your management individually of the company.

New York State statute allows management to be held financially responsible. Under federal law only the company is financially responsible that is why a lawsuit in NY in federal court is captioned John Smith vs. Novartis Pharmaceuticals and managing director individually. The company may indemnify the individuals.

DC LF willing to represent me. One other person i know also got the nod. NVS suggested a medaitor of our choosing. No class action but they will represent on individual basis
