KS to retire in March 2010

On 9/12/1988, the day Gordon Binder took over for Rathman as CEO, the closing stock price was a split adjusted $0.65 per share.

Eleven or so years later on 5/11/2000, the day Kevin took over for Gordon, the stock price was $61.625 per share. $10,000 invested on the day Gordon took over would be worth $948,000 the day he left.

We are coming up on ten years of Kevin's tenure and today's closing price is $56.27. $10,000 invested is worth $9,100. He has fleeced the company. Time for a dramatic change at the top.

"Time for a dramatic change at the top"? I say, WAY PAST DUE!!!!!!!!!

Kevin used to say the true test of his performance was the share price. The numbers you mention don't even factor in the stock buy backs that have been going on all these years, which further lower the value.

When MAP comes around, this kind of sounds like an IR to me.

I'm all for KS to move on. It's time.
But for crying out loud (Steve), give it up. Enough of your religion. We've had ENOUGH already! Go see your dentist. It's time for another 'root canal'.

Hey there buckaroo, who needs another root canal when we got doctor pain running the place?

Good to hear from you!

PS/ You won't find me giving up. Too many years and a lot of money at stake, keeps you going. By the way, I recall you are one of the "get Kevin out of office" supporters.

A half dozen messages have been deleted from this thread. Most dealt with the company's market cap now vs when KS became CEO. I guess readers need to do the math themselves. Don't forget the billions in deals and stock buy backs. Today's market cap is $57.2 B.

I would be more worried about the PE (Price to Earnings) ratio. We should be at least 13 times earnings. So, if we made $5.00 last year times 13 = $65.00 a share. And, by old standards, that's low.

I missed it

please get the math posted again

Throw in aquisition costs for Avidia, Kinetix, Immunex, Tularik, Abgenix, Alantos and Ilypsa. That should be about 20 billion more. If I recall, market cap was about 73 billion at the start of the KS era.

It is obvious that KS is not leaving. I wonder how the people from all the companies that have been swallowed up by the biotech "Black Hole" feel about that.

Kevin to retire in March 2010? We are 5 days away from March. I am anxiously waiting for that to happen. This would be the ONLY uplifting event until July 2010 when we all pray Prolia is approved.
