IT'S TOO EARLY TO LOOK FOR A JOB

I don't think people understand how brutal it is out there. I was laid off in the last round. It took me ONE FULL year to find a decent job. I lost everything and I'm having to start over.

Also...very important.....if you can't find a job within 6 months, No One will hire you after that...especially recruiters, they highly discriminate against the unemployed. Get a job asap!! Trust me!

Where do you live? I tend to think its where you live and also how well you do on interviewing.
Some people just don't interview well doesn't mean they wouldn't do a good job but its first impressions
Sorry but I don't buy it. I know at least 4 or 5 that were layed off last go round and all have found jobs. 1 in particular was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I don't want to insult you but maybe its something you weren't doing

Well, I interview very well. In fact, I made it to final round in majority of interviews. My only mistake is not networking, that is key! I had so many DM's tell me we have thousands of reps applying for 1 position...it's who you know!

Thousands of reps don't make it to the final round. If you made it to the final round of the majority of your interviews, what happpened with closing the deal?

You evidently did well up until the end. Were you asking for too much money?
Just curious what your thoughts are

I totally agree. If you're planning on staying with this Pharma profession, it's getting very, very competitive! Why gamble a Full Time position with guaranteed benefits for 5 months of severance? If you're changing career paths, than I agree in taking the severance. Lastly, there's tons of Pfizer, Sanofi, and AZ(coming shortly) reps you will be competing with. Start now!

You have to be a useless moron to want to stay in this job. I think those who want to stay KNOW they have no transferable skills and can't do anything else. You are complacent morons that don't see what's going on. You probably don't read any articles in the media and in trade journals speaking to the future of this industry. THERE IS NONE!!!

You need to reflect on your life and realize that if this is the only potential future you see for yourself- then maybe you have no future.

Some people may fail to realize that being unemployed, regardless of what you have accomplished in your current company, can be viewed as a negative to a hiring manager. If they have never been through a layoff then they may not realize that good accomplished people get cut. If they have been through a layoff and only the less productive reps got cut than their perception of being severed is jaded.

If one wants to break into another industry, even with transferable skills, it is going to be challenging to find a position with our current level of income. If you are employed than you only have one obstacle to overcome, not having that particular experience in that new industry. If unemployed, now you have to address that as well.

Staying in this position may suck if you are already mentally checked out. Find a way to refocus yourself and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Know, that this is just a means to an end, until you find your next position that you want. Enjoy what you have, a job, and leave on your terms, with a new position that you are excited about.

Realize that everyone that was let go will tell you how great their new job is even if it is a "stop gap". There are many great people who have regretted wanting to and getting cut only to find out that this is the most difficult job market that we may see in our lifetime. Not to say it is loom and doom, but there are great people with the same accomplishments as you vying for the same job. Be smart and start looking now.

Best of luck to all.
