I’m sure most of you know this but for the folks at home the only thing a KAM does different than a rep is the ability to contract. All of their fancy words can’t survive 2 questions deep and anything really imperative they do could be cross trained for a rep. Since Alkermes likes to charge a criminal amount of money for marginal improvement compared to generics then there’s no play. Additionally KAMs just plain don’t make sense in the mental health space for all the reasons you know. Namaste
The only difference between a TLL and I mean the ONLY difference is being able to take doctors out to eat. Their one superpower ($125 winner winner chicken dinner) is actually their biggest downfall and is why you can’t tie them to any quantifiable metric. The Alkermes way of having TLLs act like they have “money in their pocket” (direct quote) for speakers is to covertly or overtly say: you’ll get more programs if you say it this way, ad boards, special consulting crap and on and on. Marketing looks down on TLL anyway because it is not real marketing and never can be….it’s a dumping ground for people who couldn’t cut it as a manager or a sales rep or just trying to hide from the metric police or themselves….yeah it’s that deep
