Is it true OCEAN done in September?

They won't begin to decide until they see the true impact of generic Lipitor - come May or June. If we are still doing well with Crestor and growing the business (or at the very least maintaining it), then I think they will definitely keep us around longer. We are an experienced sales team that doesn't cost them near as much as their direct reps. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep us around for the remainder of Crestor's patent life and just cut more direct reps.

On the other hand, they've hired more CSAs. They may decide to keep their direct team and the CSA's for extra sampling, and thin the herd on our side. Time will tell. We're not even half-way through this yet though, so not to worry yet. Although I know I'd like to make some bonus dollars and I'm beginning to wonder if that'll ever happen!!

As it is i am having a difficult time getting anyone to accept crestor samples....AZ reps overloading....CSA reps loading....hell i could go days on this target list without a single provider signing for a sample....i probably have a solid 8 appointments a month and those go well, but for the remainder of the month im driving around like a dummy!

Given the fact that they said it was a 1 year contract when we were hired in September, then yes, I would guess it could really be done then.

Contract will likely be extended due to the fact that new target lists with increased call responsibility are being worked out. Also, vacant territories are being filled. Indicators point to ongoing contract with AZ. If OCEAN team can generate considerable new prescription growth with Crestor, it should be around for a while. Crestor does not go off patent until 2015, and it is AZ's biggest cash cow and most important product.

I agree. Very accurate.

I also concur.

But with an ever-changing target list and bad targets, how do they expect to establish any kind of continuity?! It's an interesting set-up and structure and there are an awful lot of reps with Crestor out there (don't forget the CSAs). I think it's hard to say what's going to happen come September.

territories are not being filled. This is what I was told by my manager.

This is true!!! I spend my days looking for a new job, as I am confident that this contract will end and my manager is gone. Do not fool yourself into thinking that this job is safe and that the contract will be renewed. I realize that the Pharmacetical industry is very unstable, however, I would rather stay ahead of the game and find something that will last longer than 6 more months!
Good Luck!!

CSA role with Crestor has just been expanded. They now have targets that are Crestor driven. In the past everything they did was Nexium driven.

One of the CSA reps told me she heard that the Crstor contract ends in Sept. She said she was just told that one week ago? Time will tell. Normally they should know for sure a few months before contract ends.
