Preferred (PA) still means it's not covered, dude. If a doc has to do a PA they don't see it as covered and frankly neither do I. I don't know where you live that you would think that it's covered because here in the Midwest, it is not. Patients are being denied coverage when they've already been on for a few months. One of my cardiologists offices called me on Friday because just last week five patients they started in February were covered then but getting denied now. wth is that? So no, try again,

It's been years since I sold adult novelty products. I do miss all that time I got to spend in Vegas at the AVN awards every year. That was a hell of a life!

Amen to that! Here in the Midwest, I have about 20% coverage on the Commercial side and even less than that covered on the Medicare side! Anytime an HCP has to right a PA, it’s a pain and many times they just don’t have time to do it! We’ve GOT to get better coverage here! We may as well be selling a Specialty medication, we work our asses off for every script here! We don’t want our HCPs to have to write a PA just to stay on our label, come on! Get us better coverage than that! Vascepa is a great product! You reps on the coasts don’t know how good you have it! If we can get coverage with NO PA we can sell it!

If you can’t sell Vascepa because of a PA, you will never be able to sell a true specialty drug. That’s the truth

Nah, Vascepa isn't a true specialty drug. You can't make false equations like that in the real world. At least not to an educated physician. You can sell them on the science but if it's a true pain in their ass to use it, they won't. Period. Physicians will only do so many PA's for a drug you're asking them to write for 15-50% of their patients no matter how much they like you. THAT'S the truth.

Now, if you handed them a magic pill that was TRULY specialty and targeted to very specific patients with a very specific diagnosis... they wouldn't mind the pa. We are LITERALLY asking them to routinely do PA's for our product as if it's nothing. It takes valuable time and resources away from SEEING THEIR PATIENTS... Oh, and we're not doing ANYTHING as a company to improve it, in fact, we are actively letting coverage slip away. We need to put our money where our mouth is and fight for coverage for our patients. If we won't why would the docs?

Yes I agree! Who have we hired in the managed care space and what the hell are they doing? It would be real nice to also have some coverage for our Medicare patient! How about from Tier 4 to Tier 3 coverage! I got zippo here guys’d, please help!

You realize there are a lot of generics that require PA’s these days too, right? PA’s are not going away so if you can’t sell a drug with a PA, it might be time for you to find a job in a different industry. I get the frustration, but docs know by now that most drugs require PA’s, hence why most offices have hired someone specifically to do the PA’s

You are full of shit.... Name 5 that have a sales force behind them. You cant.... dont come on this board and try to piss on us and say its raining. MOST DRUGS DO NOT REQUIRE A PA!!! If we had a specislty drug that CURED something a PA wouldnt be needed.... we are reaching with this fish oil science to start. If you have sold this drug with any success you will be a superstar at another company!!! Imagine if we had 1st tier coverage by 99.% of plans and Medicare coverage at 25 dollars. . And were only PA or 20 $ medicad for every state or even preferred!!! Could you sell it then? Most other companies have this with thier meds.... We have no ONE really out trying to get that for us.... If we did we would all know them by the great uppdates they gave us.. It’s a PCP drug, no doubt. Was more so addressing the people acting like they’re a specialty rep but can’t sell it because of a PA.

Except that it's not JUST a simple PA. It's a PA, followed by multiple appeals and EVEN IF the patient meets the criteria there's still a big chance that it gets denied over and over. Get out of here with your horse shit. You're just making yourself look like an idiot. I bet you're one of the asshat DM's that got into the company on a referral from working alongside someone at some other failed company.

Nope, I sold Vascepa and had no problem doing so. Eventually left for a much higher paying pharma position with a true specialty product that takes well over a month to get covered for most patients. Well good for you, except if you left more than 3 months ago you had WAY better coverage and can't even speak to what's going on here now. In my area we lost nearly 40% of our coverage in the last few months according to the MMIT formulary data. We went from 69% of commercial lives in the state being covered with no restrictions to like 31%. The only incompetence here is specifically our managed care team.
