IS AUREON CLOSED FOR GOOD?

"I hope you Aureon reps dont list this place as a former employer on your resume"

To the contrary,"LinkedIn" business network has dozens of former Aureon sales reps listed.
Ad, signicantly, also peoplein collections, accounting and insurance relations. Somebody should compile a list so that they can be held accountable and sued.

Last week, I was able to check the internet about the Aureon tests including that they worked with patients regarding the bills. ALL of that information is 'no longer available' including the aureon.com site.
How do we find information about the class action suit?

You can't sue someone who has no control over what is happening. Don't you get it? There was never a problem as long as Aureon was in business. It is now the new "owner" who is trying to make a quick buck. Why don't you focus your anger and efforts on the person who is causing the problem and not people who are also being affected by it.

Aureon Biosciences Billing Process

Below is a brief overview of our billing process. There are two documents that are sent to the patient at the time that we bill their insurance, mostly to make sure that they understand the process and reach out to Aureon with questions rather than your office.

Our billing dept does not invoice patients directly except in the following circumstances:
1- The patient got directly reimbursed for Aureon’s services (usually happens with BCBS) and needs
to send the money to Aureon
2- The patient has a co-insurance due after we have gotten final payment from the insurance company
3- The patient has a deductible after we have gotten final payment from the insurance company

If a patient is questioning you about an unusual invoice that was received please refer them to us at 888 797-7284. It is most likely an EOB or our welcome letter not an invoice from Aureon that the patient received. The EOB could show an amount uncovered by insurance and put it under patient responsibility. Again we would not invoice the patient- we appeal the decision- several times. This most likely affects CPT code 88399.
Also, we do not balance bill patients. We accept the in-network allowable amounts from the insurance company. Lastly, we do not ask for an ABN to be signed.
The Billing dept does offer an up-front benefit investigation if required to get general info regarding deductibles and coinsurance. Again you can use the 888 797-7284 number for that service. We use the APCP (Aureon Patient Care Program) brochure and the patient welcome letter to assure the patient that Aureon is keeping their out of pocket costs in mind as we establish our new technology with payers!

Thank you for your interest and please call me, your SAE, or the billing dept directly for further questions.

Sincerely,

Billing Manger

Dear Patient,

Your physician has recommended either the Prostate Px⊕ or the Post-Op Px test as part of your comprehensive and individualized Prostate Cancer workup. This information is important to you and your physician as you consider and determine the most appropriate course of action in your treatment and follow up. Aureon is proud to assist you and your physician(s) by providing important, personalized risk assessment information about your disease. Aureon manages the entire billing process for your test. Should you have any questions related to billing for our tests, please contact us directly at the number provided
below. Your physician(s) and office staff are not involved in the billing process for this personalized, prognostic service.

I am the Billing Manager for Aureon Laboratories. I am here to work with you and your insurance company to ensure your claim for the Prostate Px⊕ test is processed
properly. Our billing process has been designed with you, the patient, in mind. Our goal is to work with you, every step of the way, to make this process as easy as possible and to address any questions you may have. The first step in the process will be for Aureon to submit the claim to your insurance company. The submitted claim will include the information provided on your test request. Although, Aureon’s claim will be for the test’s list price ($3,200); your portion is typically only your normal “in-network” copay/deductible for laboratory service. If you need help verifying your insurance information please contact us for assistance. Our specialists can be reached by phone at 1-888-797-7284 (option 2) or by email at APCP@aureon.com.

The second step in the process happens when you receive a response from your insurance company. Once you have reviewed your Explanation of Benefits, please call me if you have any questions. If, for any reason, your insurance company denies a portion of the claim, I will work directly with you so that we can file an appeal. Please be assured that we will work tirelessly to ensure that your insurance carrier processes our claim at a preferred provider rate: at Aureon, we believe that no patient should endure financial stress during their battle with cancer.

If you receive payment directly from your insurance company, please contact Aureon and we will advise you on how to forward the endorsed payment and necessary Explanation of Benefits copy to us for the next step. If you have any questions please call me. Thank you for your time. I look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,

Billing Manager

RE: Account #_________

Dear Sir or Madam:

I request that (collection agency name) CEASE and DESIST immediately in its efforts to collect on the above referenced account. I will not deal with any collection agencies and I will only deal with the original creditor of this and all accounts bearing my name.
Furthermore, (collection agency name) and all its agents and assigns are hereby instructed to immediately CEASE and DESIST all contact with myself and with third parties such as my family members, employers, coworkers and the like, via telephone, including but not limited to computer generated calls, and via person to person contact at my places of residence and employment.
Any further communication with me regarding this account or any accounts bearing my name or phone number are to be conducted ONLY in writing via USPS to the above address.
Please attend to the actions required by your receipt of this letter immediately or face legal sanctions under applicable Federal and State law.

This is NOT a request for “verification” or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION. I demand that your office provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.
Please provide me with the following:

If your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the three major CreditBureau’s (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion), said action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following:
• Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
• Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
• Defamation of Character

If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist.
Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel. This includes any information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is.
If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.

How do the letters you have posted from Aureon Labs billing department help the
out-of-network patients that have received collection notices?

Also, as an out-of-network patient, I never received these letters from the billing department of Aureon Labs or for that matter any communication or bills, until I received the collections bill, 10 days ago.

read post #13 above. It's better to have this information than not if your initial attempt to get out via validation of debt doesn't work.
Just make sure, as stated above, that you have sent them a letter disputing the validity of the bill before the 30 days is up (ie August 11th) and send it certified with return receipt.

Thanks to everyone on here who has given us some hope!!!! I so appreciate the letters for billing, as well as the template for the letter. I pray that we are not too late to send in the 30 day notice letter...our urologist called on Friday and apparently we were the first to contact them. They are "attempting" to contact Aureon themselves to find out what's going on...I guess they don't even know that Aureon isn't in business in any longer!!!!!

I thank God for all of you helping us!

This is still quite a mess. My understanding is that since the debt collection bought our supposed debt - the amount of the bills that would have never been paid, if the collection agency DOES ever write this off, WE are responsible for the amount written off as income on our income taxes. That a 1099C will be sent. This just seems so wrong. If your insurance covered 950 of the 3200, then you will get a 1099C for 2250. This is unless you were 'insolvent' at that time. I don't know what the attorney general in Houston can do, but I think we need to encourage our urology practices to put their legal strength behind correcting this injustice.

Until the collection agency bill, I did not know I had tests at Aureon Labs. I thought I had only had prostate biopsies to determine malignancy. In attempting to research what this test determines, if I am understanding it correctly, it predicts recurrence of prostate cancer through a systems pathology of molecular testing. Genetic testing is supposed to require an informed consent by the patient. Did anyone sign an informed consent?

Yea I bet. We all know how the lab industry works. Inducements, kickbacks to order a bunch of tests that may or may not be of any use. Pump people full of fear and make as much money as you can.

Best treatment possible, give me a break. Did your test discourage or encourage more radiation treatments if the urologists could profit by doing IMRT? Did the urologists even care?

SOUNDS LIKE NEOGENOMICS !!

My husband also received a collection notice from Universal Fidelity LP on July 13, 2012 for services provided by Aureon Laboratories for the Prostate PX test. We never gave our urologist written permission to go out of network for a test that was not approved by our medical insurance. We contacted the urologist's billing department who said they are working on the problem but can't reach any of the numbers listed. We were told not to do anything until they got back to us. That is almost 4 weeks ago and when I call billing all I am told is they are not having any luck. When I suggested saying something to the doctor, I was told he never gets involved with insurance issues...but what about his legal representation. I am taking the advice given here and on the collection notice about notification in writing. Am I making matters worse by using the letter suggested earlier in this thread? thanks
