Our previous manager started here recently and shared the facts with a few of us. The recruiters job is to setup people for interviews in every territory, including the territories where managers already know who they are bringing in, that means a recruiter will tell you anything. The other fact is this, the range could be higher for some people, but is based on where you are at now, unless you are above the hard cap which does exist. So you would interview for a job that you were never getting because of salary.

140+ base for a regular pharma rep ?

Some DM’s don’t even make that high of a base, I would say 95% of pharma reps do not have bases of 140K+
You are lacking information about the market or your entire career has been in the primary care world at mega pharma operations only - 40% of my team is above 140k

Place fillers all week and plenty of them, have to interview more than the 1 person that already has the job (on paper until approval)
