Interviewing with Publicis

To the original poster to this thread...First, I hope your interview went well. I have been following this thread because it seems we are interviewing for the same company/contract...hopefully not against one another since my interview is later in the week so we are probably in different cities :). I am also recently laid off from Big Pharma in specialty and this seems like a very good contract. If you can share any insights you have after going through the first face-to-face interview, please share. Thanks and hopefully we will meet in March at training!

The manager is a nice, personable man and I think would be a pleasure to work with. He will be handling a territory which is huge: Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, Calif, Phoenix, Minnesota etc (maybe not all cities but a large territory). He is newly hired and has excellent career experience. Base will be at minimum 85K but there is a range although he did not share. Bonus he said, an attainable bonus is 23K. He could not tell me the name of product or company yet and gave reasons why. He said contract is as rock solid as possible. He will be the only manager as the client will not be involved in that. He could not say whether or not we would work with the clients reps BUT our accounts will be ours, not shared.
In regards to interview very laid back and questions-maybe 5- were very easy and no big surprises. He said he will be the one contacting the candidate or candidates that move forward to a phone call basically. He said although no Skype he found out today a call will happen. I asked if 1 or 2 candidates to move forward and he said he did not know as client will propose that. Other than that decisions hopefully to be made next week if all runs smoothly. It will be interesting to see how that goes as I am told the manager is hiring for 11 positions. That's all I can think of.

Good luck to you! I hope you get it and its a good experience for you! It has been for me after being laid off from big Pharma. It may be only a one year contract but its a good salary I would not Have had otherwise and I'm grateful for it!

Thanks and I couldn't agree more with you. A good salary even though a 1 year contract IS something to be grateful for!

hate to rain on all this pollyanna bs, but you really need a reality check: this is contract sales, where only guarantee is: nothing is guaranteed. Last contract I worked was supposed to go for 3 yrs, salary was $75K, $600 car allowance, etc. - great expectations - ended after 6 mos when client decided to rethink, realign and close territories nationwide.

Look it. You can use the name calling and refer to the info I gave as BS but it's YOUR BS. I have been a rep for about 15 years and I know the realities as you do about working in this industry. It doesn't matter if it's contract or not-- a job can end at anytime and frankly I don't need you to walk me through it. POSTERS for this job the base is what I said it was in addition to the other items. You either believe it or not and at this point I don't care and will choose not to share anymore info. It is not worth the people on here either pissed about something, calling others a liar indirectly and not taking the info given as face value.
What a crock.. I thought on occasion we, as reps could actually share and help each other. My mistake...

Please ignore the person who keeps posting negative comments. I'm the person who asked for your insight and I found it extremely helpful and really grateful for you taking the time to answer. Best of luck to you in your job search.

Very true. Publicis is probably the least professional of all the contract companies. I have worked for 3 and it's the worst.

Have been following this post and can't believe what r*****s are on here who
keep harping about what a crappy co Publicis is. The poster doesn't care (sorry poster I am guessing you feel this way). The poster wants to work in pharma period. Give it a rest on the company bashing.........

you couldn't be more wrong.
I just want to help those of you that think publicis is a good company. it may be if you want to work in a position that will lead you nowhere in your professional life.

Have at it. I did over 10 years in pharma, and go nowhere because of all the idiots in the industry that didn't teach me a dam thing.

So glad to be out at such a young age, to start over.

Those of you that don't want to listen, will surely have problems long term. That is your call. I just want to warn all of you.

Again, there is a big difference between being negative and being honest.

NOW FOR A REALITY CHECK, NO CONTRACT FOR PUBLICIS PAYS 85K, DID YOU WONDER WHY THE MANAGER COULDN'T ANSWER ANY OF THE DETAILED QUESTIONS. YOUR ACCOUNTS WILL NOT BE YOURS, YOU'LL NEVER HIT YOUR BONUS AND THE $600 CAR ALLOWANCE COUNTS TOWARDS YOUR GAS OH AND BY THE WAY PUBLICIS HAS ALREADY LOWERED THE MILEAGE FROM .19 TO .18 A MILE AND YOU HAVE HAVE TO FILL OUT A TIME CARD, AND YOU ONLY GET 2 WEEKS VACATION NON NEGOTIABLE.
GET READY FOR THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF YOUR LIFE. BUT IF YOU WORK ONE DAY A WEEK YOU'LL LOVE IT

This is an exercise in futility but in answer to your question (s) (which you won't like, believe, whatever because you have formed a poor opinion of the company)- I believe the pay as it has been verified in multiple sources for me and the last specialty position I interviewed with (Dec. 2012) the base was 85-90K- I get the reasons why the product and co cannot be divulged. I will sell shit to pigs I could care less what the product is. Two weeks vacation, 600 car allowance, lower mi. I DON;T CARE. I am not at the beginning of my career as you might be or say you are. I am in the middle and I have been off for over a year. I think for those of you who are so incredibly negative perhaps you should put yourself in the situation of losing your job and let's not forget platinum benefits and apply and apply and apply to highly sought after positions which are few compared to the hundreds applying. I have to pay my own insurance now. Just me and it's $750 a month. A far cry from platinum bennies and only having less than $33 a paycheck taken to have them.
I also don't know if you're joking about the limited time you suggest to work in the field but if so SHAME ON YOU. THAT IS CALLED STEALING and it's reps like you that give the industry a poor, poor view of pharmaceutical reps.

So if I get this position I'll take the negatives with the positives. It's my choice darlin' so you all stamp your feet and shake your fists about Publicis.. it's your right and my right to tune you out. BON CHANCE MES AMIS!!!

having worked in pharma 10 yrs myself including contracts for pss, pdi, ventiv and quintiles, are you sure about the region stated? I've been on contracts which cover regions, but the states you mention don't make sense as being in the same one? I'm assuming you live in one of the states cited?

Yes and yes.

I also interviewed for the MS specialty position. I think with the same guy (he live is in IL?) Seems like he would be great to work for...and we all know your boss makes or breaks it. I currently have a job, but they had layoffs last Thurs and will probably have more. The layoffs on Thurs were not announced, we were not told to wait by our phones, they just called the people and let them go, had a national teleconference later in the day to let the rest of us know what was going on. So "contract" sales sounds the same as what I have now!! Only I might actually respect my boss, learn something from him, learn a new disease state and hopefully be able to help some patients. $600 a month sounds great, I'm tired of driving big pharmas crappy bottom line cars...let me own my own car and my kids can also drive it! I've been in big pharma and smalll pharma...I'm just looking to ride the wave to the end, and maybe that will get me close to retirement age (as long as I stay specialty). All in all, this sounds like a great opportunity. (I was also told 85-90k starting salary - which is on par for specialty). Good luck to you, hope I see you in March! For the rest of you that are so negative...go find something to be positive about...maybe it's time to switch careers.

I am going to be interviewing on Thursday.
Does anyone know how many people per territory are being considered?
Is a decision - offers going to be made by some time next week?

Thanks!!

Yes same person from Chicago area. I too thought he would be a cool person to work with. Did you get a follow up email from your recruiter after the interview?
Yes I did...more info needed for a background check. How about you? Do you know who the two others are from your area? Any idea if they got a follow up email? I know p. schedule was pretty crazy this week, but I hope we know something tomorrow. Good luck to you!
