Might be time to start dusting off the resume if you are overcome with fear. Being prepared is a good thing. Getting an offer with a sign on bonus is even better.

First - the no one has ever been termintated for not working between certain hours? That is so untrue - I have known reps who were called in to headquarters and then interrogated for hours about their first sig and last sig. HR and the mgr will look for anything to make a case and construct the termination reasons for "other" things. Just mother Merck doing what she does best - management by fear.

First, its against FDA to have a doctor sign, unless they actually need samples.
Second, a company can't fire you for not getting signatures. If signatures is the name of the game, then they should require it, but they can't because its an FDA thing.

Talk to most contract reps - they get paid by the signature, oftentimes for products that they have no samples for.
The verbage on the sig sheet is that the dr has acknowledged the receipt of information and/or samples.

First sig and last- time stamped on the computer is what they are looking for you dumbass. Against FDA regulations to get a sig for a doctor not there - of course it is against FDA regs. So what does the rep do who has to "prove" they are in the field and seeing the first doctor by 7:30 0r 8 a.m.? Doc isn't there or doesn't need samples so there won't be a sig. Hmmm - "left a reprint" "talked with the office staff ( this is the new commercial model, after all), talked with the PA, etc. etc.
You are right if the manager doesn't like you, then all those time stamps for early in the morning and late in the afternoon that are not phys sig but other entries will indeed get you in trouble and then fired.

My point is that you have to show you are on territory from 7:30 or 8 a.m. until at least 5p.m. My point was how do you prove you are on territory and engaging with the customer early in the morning or late afternoon. Obviously from your reply, you are the dumbass.
