IDEXX HATES ITS EMPLOYEES

The company continues to set sales/stock records and has now proven that they are essentially recession and pandemic proof. This is due to their cornering of the market with patents, software and legal team bullying.

Days prior to this past Friday's Q2 earnings call, GF hosted a Webex call (Disguised as a long awaited product launch), and instead of the launch, laid off HALF of the North American Diagnostic Imaging field sales team (approx 15 tenured & well-performing regional sales specialists).

He actually stated that this was due to a calculated long-term profitability and efficiency play.

Affected employees were given 2 weeks notice and severance package equivalent to approx. 1-3 months of compensation. All very poor considering to loyal employees riding out/producing uncertain times.

To rub salt in that wound, 2 days later (Friday),IDXX scheduled Q2 earnings report was VERY positive- with IDXX stock climbing further to $398, after having dropped to ~$165 in March during the initial pandemic selloff. CEO even stated much of this due to the team he just laid off (didn't include the layoffs in his report, must have been short on time).

All newly unemployed specialists are eligible to apply for the few available VDC gigs in small markets (where none of them already reside), with a best case scenario in that sense being picking up and moving to take an offer for a lesser role.
Note that they're not actually being offered said jobs- but GF's gift was that he's allowing them to forego a severance to take a demotion and relocate during a pandemic.

With the uncertainty of Covid and hindered access to veterinarians and management, GF previously had announced a 90% commission guarantee on July 15- which all of sales had to sign/agree to. This was well received with all other uncertainty.
...However recently laid off specialist team will not have the guarantee honored.

So while millions have been laid off from their jobs due to the economy and pandemic- Idexx continues to overachieve due to their recurring/consumable business, while simultaneously treating their top producing employees like dirt.

Note that this was also after being gifted major tax benefits from the recent Trump tax bill. Idexx's gift to employees after that bill passed was an additional 1% on 401(k) match. That entire company match was cancelled at the start of Covid19.

The new CEO, Jay Mazelsky, was a poor choice and is a clear pushover with zero charisma. GF has been an arrogant little cretin for his entire tenure. Ayers at least had a persona and (apparent) vision to balance out the rest of the upper management sociopaths at this once respectable company.

It should not be news that corporate America is a cold and often unforgiving place.

It seems GF wakes up everyday with goals to make it colder and less forgiving (certainly not to proudly raise a family or give back to the community etc.). He would be far better suited hanging off the genitals of a Putin or Asaad.

GF is cold...Cold hearted...sociopath...Ask his kids. Not that his kids have had anything to do with him in ten years since he is too sick to be around them. Your description above is only a fraction of who he truly is. Says a lot about our company keeping him.

The thing with Idexx is that the CEO has no clue what BS the management team is doing. The management team will say things like "if someone were to do this nobody would catch it" making reference to a shady deal. So, you have all the ethical stuff, that you are asked to ignore by management and in addition you have to deal with all the in-house sex with married employees and people sleeping there way to the top. I could write a screen play on what I know! Idexx is famous for promoting the wrong people and if the wind blows the wrong way, I may take what I know and become a whitsle blower. Be afraid, you may be who I am talking about. Next post I will give the initials of the individuals. Oh, and by the way I am working with my lawyer on this so you should take that into consideration. So tempted to give the initials and names but I will refrain until next week. Oh, and Jon Ayers if you want to call me just get involved in this post because I know where the bodies are buried so to speak. We also have a relationship because you have been in my car.

GF has effectively implemented a trickle down system of bad business ethics, with the only real goal being the almighty dollar for major shareholders. Very sad to watch good people slowly selling their soul in order to stay employed and off GF's chopping block. I have worked with other large fortune 500 companies and the lack of character + narcissistic/sociopath behavior here is really on it's own level. GF doesn't respect employees- he enjoys putting on over-the-top gala style sales conferences thinking that is what makes them feel special. Huge waste of budget and time (unless it is someone just looking to get away from their family for a week, which I am sure is where he thinks everyones minds are at).
In my opinion this all stems from the arrogance of having arrived to this booming veterinary medical sector early along with GF's Napoleonic paranoia of competitors coming to get him...
I feel for normal, producing sales people in addition to the veterinary community who should not be endlessly bombarded with programs, contracts and unnecessary equipment... when the majority just want to care for animals & make a decent living. The recent 2 week layoff for field specialists was cold-blooded and entirely senseless in the way it was executed. It is so clear that GF and his deputies have zero empathy for humans, animals or anything beyond stock price and winning legal battles.
The veterinary industry is full of good people and opportunity is not going anywhere. There is a way for Idexx to maintain market share and improve reputation... but GF has to go and his minions need to relearn how to do business the right way.

Idexx has some of the highest turnover in the industry! They treat their reps like garbage and all you have to do is look around to see how long each rep lasts for. They only want to sell equipment and then tell you not to help the customer again and to only go back when you want to sell them something else. The old owners of Idexx would freak if they saw what had become of their company. The managers are morons and know next to nothing. It's too bad cause the products are good. I am a distributor rep and I am now training my 5th Idexx rep in 7 years. WHy are they all quitting?? Don't work for them- you will be miserable!!

Its now 2020 and this post from 2009 still rings true!

GF still treating his employees like his own kids? I heard those stories too. What a horrible place to work with people like him. Glad I’m gone.
