I WAS REJECTED BY DAIICHI SANKYO TODAY

You didn't get hired because you're ugly, fat, and your boobs are too small. Get over it you cry baby. We're in a recession and they receive hundreds of resumes for one position. They get their pick of the litter. Although you think you're the best, you obviously were not.

Buđdy, why don't you justbest nice. The guy just got rejected from one of the best Pharm company in the country.

With all the "Newbie" claims, one would think it was very easy to get into Daiichi. I can attest to you that it is not. I have 15 years of documented sales experience, came to the f2f with detailed product knowledge, and detailed product knowledge of competitors, brag book, STAR formatted answers, Science degree, and a competitive, go getter attitude. I took 2 pharmacology courses in the last 6 months and 2 communication courses just to better my presentation skills. I also told them I was willing to relocate on my own dime just to work for them and still, I did not make it to the second round because I do not have Pharma experience. What the heck does it take to get into this business. And no I am not straight out of college. Newbie to pharma not sales.

Do yourself a big favor: RUN, don't walk away from pharma. Pharma is dying. All the twenty-somethings who think they have hit the big time with this job are living in the shell of a false reality and are killing their resumes early on in their careers. Take your real sales successes and move up in REAL SALES. Pharma used to be a great gig. Those days are so over! People who have been extremely successful in pharma and now find themselves unemployed are now working sales entry-level jobs like Paychex or ADT, or are unemployed.........

DM here. At the risk of opening myself up for your abuse, here is the straight story: DS will be filling out PC3 with 30% pharma reps with 1-3 years experience, 20% college grads with no experience, preferably teachers, coaches, etc. and the remaining 50% will be sales reps with 2 years of business to business sales and a track record of success. I look for reps who have received annual recognition rather than just monthly or quarterly, and they must provide documentation of same.

A lot of your posts are correct, but realize that even before Pfizer and other companies had recent layoffs, there were over a hundred candidates posting for each position.

Does anyone have an illusion that they are irreplaceable? Do you remember how tough it was to break in? If not, chances are that is why you are not more grateful for those things that the 23-year-old recent college grad would kill for. There are no guarantees. You have to work to succeed (despite what the majority of posts on this site would have you believe). Even success is no guarantee of job security. There are plenty of talented former reps that can attest to that.

DS has never had layoffs, is going through explosive growth, and yes, either new products will be launched or the company is spending a fortune for nothing and we will all be looking for work (not the case).

I just applied for a job in Albany, NY. I have 13 years of successful pharma experience. I am hoping to be able to land a job where I can stay until I decide to retire. I know it's tough. I also know that I can do a much better job than a new-hire. I did not bash the competition. I did not call the doctor's "baby" ugly. I did point out the differences by selling straight from the P.I. I built my reputation as a knowledgeable and trusted rep one doctor at the time. I can go to a lot of offices I used to call 13 years ago in my territory (and I have covered from Upstate NY to CNY to the Hudson Valley and North) and most of the staff knows who I am.

I want a job with a company who will value my knowledge, my talent, and what I bring to the table-years of relationships built on trust and integrity. After all, selling boils down to two things-the science of the product and the relationship with the customer. Some of you might say, then DS is not the place to be. I beg to differ. I can do the job in any environment, because I want to do the job.

DM here again: I posted your quote and would tell you to disregard the negativity you hear on this board and any other on CP. Make your own decisions. Based on your attitude, my belief is you just need to back it up with action. Take the job and love it. Yes, there are problems and challenges at DSI, but that is no different than anywhere else. Most of the people on here come to either be entertained or to vent because they are unsuccessful. Winners have nothing to complain about, and DSI does reward winners. #1 rep in the sales force makes 4 times average in IC. Top 10 makes 3 times average. I know from personal experience and from other reps that many other pharma companies reward mediocrity. I think based on that, you will do well here.

a DM surfing CP must be lacking something major. Don't you have a life or don't you ride in the field, really?
Being a 4 time Gold Cup winner I know what kind of money can be made, however, I met many reps in Hawaii who didn't make the rumored average of $17K for the year in Bonus. Please post an average of what the other 90% of "Forced Ranked" reps make in annual bonus. Thats right, chicken feed...so please give us some more useful statistics, like "Number of DM and Reps downsized this quarter", or do you even know your future, Mr. DM Surfer?

I interviewed at DSI recently for an in house position. I found the people interviewing me unprofessional and absolutely lacking in intelligence. Everyone seemed so wishy-washy and off.

I knew in 20 minutes I wanted to get out of the office. If HR knew the slackers and degenerates working in that place, they would be appalled. Good luck all!
If you work hard and are halfway smart they will not hire you!

When come on board was told average annual bonus was 17k for middle of the pack too. I won GC. Made 21k. Seems like for performing and winning GC I should've made more than 21k. 7k more than the avg IC check? That seems dumb. I can contest

Wow! You are saying something is dumb, but can't subtract 17 from 21?

Not only do you not know math - but you failed to realize GC was not rewarding consistent quarterly growth (IC) until this year! Bottom line, you had an awful territory the previous year....grew 2 quarters and went to GC! (Congrats on your great 24 weeks) Consistency is FINALLY the key, if you grow or lose (relative to your peers) you get paid period! If you can’t sustain growth, you don't get paid. Gold Cup is now based on IC, and yes if you win GC….you make serious $$$!
