NOT TO SOUND ARROGANT, BUT I'M TOTALLY MIFFED AS TO WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE WHEN I INTERVIEWED FOR AN PC3 SALES REP POSITION TO IMMEDIATELY BE TOLD THIS AFTERNOON THAT I WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE NEXT ROUND.

I'VE BEEN IN PHARMA FOR 9 YEARS AND JUST CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME IMAGINE WHAT CAUSED THIS.

CAN ANYONE PROVIDE ANY INSIGHT? HR....PLEASE?

(MEAN PEOPLE, YOU DON'T BOTHER ME, SO GO AHEAD AND HAVE YOUR HEYDAY).

If they couldn't offer you a salary comparable to what you are already making, they would excuse you quickly. We are gearing up for several drugs to come to market, but few are bringing substantial money to the bottom line presently. Most of the hires are industry new comers.

"We are gearing up for several drugs to come to market"

Dude get off of that crack pipe and pay attention - what new drugs are we gearing up for?

And salary has nothing to do with it - they only want newbies - Train em and let them go out and set the pharma world on fire - then watch em go on down the road in 12 months for a much better opportunity - DS Business 101

Got it? Any more questions before we move on?

OP- I understand what you feel right now, likewise dumped! Have 8 years pharma experience in a big company!

I am switching career now, had my teaching (college) interview today and I am getting the offer soon. I have 2-year teaching experience prior to my pharma job. Less pay but I can have a real life here. Hard decision but I know I am doing the right thing! Seasoned reps are being replaced by these airhead newbies!

Had 2 years on Daiichi contract (ventiv) - 7 years pharma. Posted top #'s and letters of recommendations from mgrs. and docs. Didn't even get a phone interview. Godspeed....wish I had your option.

I smell the makings of a lawsuit - Age, race, creed, sex discrimination.

You pick 'em It doesn't sound like it matters with this possibility.

Just make sure you get the complete names of those who interviewed you and document everything that was asked in the interview. Write it down as soon as the interview is over, so you can show that it was clear and coherent and relevant to your case.

This could even have the makings of a Class Action Lawsuit.

They are probably looking for someone less experienced and before you get up in outrage I mean someone they can train themselves, pay less money, and shove out as a mass marketing robot. They probably did you a favor. 9 years of experience is a lot for this group. 2-4 is more realistic and 1-2 is probably ideal.

Don't take it as an insult but as a blessing.

Why a blessing?

Because you will be asked to forget everything you've learned about selling. Instead, you will be forced and micromanaged into doing PODs, programs, and just delivering prepared sound bites to offices. The use of your talent would cause a rise in market share that the higher ups cannot take credit for.

I have 2 yrs and have been called to an interview: DO you think I'm showing up---I'd rather leave the industry NOW and start a new life and to be honest DS is on the shi# list with Dr's ---just spoke to one today who said that Welchol is 4th or 5th down the line of possible RX's on his list for those patients, he also said it just doesn't work (Not the first dr. who told me this)
Again---DO you think I'd interview for PC3 Welchol with DS????

GET BENT DS (keep the D in DS-for Devalue the industry with newbies)

Yeah I wasn't moved forward either. I don't get it...what exactly are they looking for? If it's a newer rep then that's me. I have 2 years in the biz, awsome #'s, numerous awards, great personality, answered questions in STAR format, etc....I've been looking since January to no avail. I guess I'll keep pushing on...it's probrably better that I'm not selling Rozerem anyways...

you were selling rozerem? you're not still with takeda? they are expanding

and you have all that award stuff? looking since january? what the...

i think abraham lincoln, the gopher and the astronaut are looking for you!!!

experience is a liability. mngrs must hire a large % of newbies..people eager to get into the industry and think that 40-50K is AWESOME...then those with 2/3 yrs and the those with 5or more...well YOUR TIME IS UP.the high end is 65 and most likely YOURE MAKING IT KID. and you aint gonna make it at DS. so, yes, experience is a liability and the DMs will be doing alot of babysitting as buffy falls in love and moves so she can be near her boyfriend after a year. hey, works out great, co. gets to keep the bennies!

You know what? 40 - 50 K a year is tremendous money to a kid 1 year out of college at the tender age of 23 years old. Free car too? And a chance to make even more with commission? Ya gotta be kidding me - they have all hit the LOTTERY !!!

Daiichi Sankyo is the BEST thing that has ever happened to them and they will work their asses off and grow their business - No 10am to 2 pm for them.

Upper Management knows this and so do you...Your time has come and gone.

Question for the 35 years of age people out there? How much money were you making per year when you were 23 years old? I sense a little bit of injury to your pride and ego when you think these youngsters can't do the same exact job that you claim to be so skilled at - Now that is a hoot !

Ok. Working in contract sales you get to choose your car, not have to do programs, do half the lunches, get better benefits, avoid the political BS, make better $, and get paid time off in between contracts.

Where does that put DS?

Daiichi is in a fowl mood when it is her time of the month.

So how long ,in reality, do you think it's going to take these smart, young, eager 23 yr olds to figure out that this job can really be done betw. the hours of 10a-2pm? 6 months, maybe a year. Does the company really think these newbies go on forever w/that eager attitude?? No, after a year they figure out what this job really is and then they figure they can go to another company and get a 10% jump in salary, which would take them 2-3 yrs at the present company...then they bolt.
