HOW IS OLEPTRO DOING??

I hope that patience is rewarded here but you also cannot come down on people who are concerned about the viability of the product.

While most of us took these jobs because we needed them it still was rather exciting to be with a new company just getting off of the ground. However, if you have a family that relies on your salary and your insurance how can you not be startled and scared by Labopharm's financial difficulties?

In addition to other things, this organization badly needs a leader at the top that is more vocal and charismatic that will improve retention/engagement.

Please start talking to others outside of what sounds like a Lilly contract past. Yes Labopharm is not looking great financially but they are only a fraction of the financial equation, Angelini is very strong and may be willing to take on all the responsibility for Oleptro and us, that would be very good for those of us who want to grow this thing and make it permanent. You're looking for answers in too small a sphere of influence, expand your reach and you should be pleasantly surprised.

To your other point, feedback has been given that our leaders need to be more vocal, especially in terms of what the future holds for us as a sales team. Charisma is innate so don't expect any changes there but there is hope for competency, ask yourself how long it would take a larger company to get feedback from the sales force that more promotional material is needed and actually get it produced and distributed. I like the last two updates we received and I am very surprised how quickly they were given to us to use in our promotional efforts, big pharma never would have even heard the cries for help.

It would seem to me that your hope and optimism that things work out are clouding your judgement.

I am not saying that things will not work out - I hope they do - but rather an honest evaluation of the situation results in a shaky picture:

1. Oleptro finishes the first 5 months WAY BELOW goal
2. After a couple of months this year it is also BELOW goal
3. LaboPharm is experiencing financial difficulties and it has publicly stated it may not have the scratch to support the product
4. A large degree of turnover + people looking elsewhere (everybody?)

In addition, you said - "Angelini is very strong and may be willing to take on all the responsibility for Oleptro and us" - key word there is MAY.

You say that we "are looking for answers in too small a sphere of influence, expand your reach and you should be pleasantly surprised." Question: to whom should I reach to for information? The 4 points above are concrete facts. How could we not be concerned about the viability of Oleptro, this organization, AND OUR JOBS? Pretty much everybody in this organization has been laid off by another organization. You? Why is it your have such blind faith? Certainly, its not because of a dynamic leader continually reassuring everybody that things will be OK.

In addition, if this doesn't work out we will be cut off with no severance or benefits.

Now, if you, sir or madam take this information and aren't the least bit concerned then you are either very much in the know, independently wealthy, or incredibly naive.

Well said!!

Do either of you last 2 posters ever talk with your managers? The plans are set, if you need an "official" invitation you're really a baby. We're small and we don't have to operate like the big pharma schmucks we hate, if you like the Lilly way so much go back to it. Patience will be rewarded here.

#1 let me just say you must be a complete moron because everything you said is wrong. Just for fun, let's review!

* "Do either of you last 2 posters ever talk with your managers?" Of course we do, the DMs aren't the problem. The problem is the dates and locations have changed since the first time the DMs told us.

* "The plans are set, if you need an "official" invitation you're really a baby." This was the dumbest line in your post. Are you referring to plan #1 or #2? Until I get an email saying it's time to make hotel and plane reservations then how am I supposed to believe this meeting will happen when and where they say it will? By your post I'm thinking you must be new to business altogether since EVERY company sends an official invite to something this size. It helps those of us with kids and a family to plan ahead. This "baby" doesn't live anywhere near the meeting site and will have to fly in, should I just go ahead and schedule my own flights and make my own hotel reservations?

* "We're small (hey, you did get one thing right!) and we don't have to operate like the big pharma schmucks we hate". Small doesn't have to mean inept in scheduling, pay, marketing, formulary coverage or upper management ability. You can hire "the cream of the crop" as they called us last July in training but if you don't have the pieces of the puzzle I mentioned above, then you're going to get the results we are seeing here. You say you hate big pharma, why? Too much pay? Too many blockbuster drugs to sell? Bonuses too large? Stock options make you unhappy? A marketing team with vision scares you?

* "Patience will be rewarded here" No it won't, not unless you consider unemployment a reward. You don't need a degree in finance to know that noone, not the joint venture, not Labopharm, not Angelini can survive by supporting a salesforce selling a drug that has less than 5 million in sales per year. We already know an ANDA has been filed by a generic company to make Oleptro in 2013.

I guess that's enough for now, please don't post here again. Your shortsightedness gives me a headache.

Wow. Just for some perspective, Lexapro alone produces more revenue in about 6 hours than this drug does in one year. Within the therapeutic class, marketshare amounts to 3 one-hundredths of a percent. That's below the term bleak.

The marketplace has pretty much spoken as to its value. I guess I'm waiting to hear why Angelini's pocket's should be raided to continue the support of a non-demanded product and maintain a management group who has zero idea of how to develop and then commercialize a product which can create revenue.

best thing to do with a failed product that is basically generic and not wanted in the marketplace is to reduce price and contract with some PBMs for a tier one formulary status. Pay rebates and let MC pull the drug through. Fire all sales support other then contracting!!

Assclown!

You are the clearly the most awsomest rep ever, you're brilliant, thoughtful and without a doubt far above any rep in the industry. Oh, by the way, you're also one of my peers and the reason many others look at us like we're a bunch of whiny babies. Add your post in the middle of a Tuesday (go ahead, tell me you've got the best smart phone available, I doubt you could turn one on) and again, you're the reason people laugh at us. Your headache is self-inflicted because you think you're better than everyone involved in this project yet you, like me, are a rep. Show us all your brilliance and come up with some ideas to make this work, get promoted quickly and save us all from the depths of despair. C'mon, tear off your button down and show us all the SuperRep costume you're wearing underneath. You're my hero!

Personally I believe we will be downsized soon. After cancelling the POA meeting,DM meeting & a freeze on hiring, something is certainly going to happen. MaryAnn stated they were reexaming our HCP list and will dial it in even more to HCP that write branded AD. With only 80 Docs now, narrowing the list down will only make our territories smaller, thus the opportunity to get rid of some reps. The reps. left will have enlarged territories. This is my prediction.

Is there any real chance the sales force will be able to move enough of this drug to pay 80 reps and DMs salaries? Based on the results to date, I don't see how that's going to happen...not to mention actually turning a profit for the JV. Your scenario seems like it would only delay the inevitable... Hope I'm wrong. Good luck.

Let's be clear, a sarcastic bitch like yourself is not MY peer. Don't feel bad because I was able to put clear ideas about someone's foolish post (probably yours) here on the board DAYS BEFORE the conference call confirmed what I was saying.

Thank you again for clarifying and proving your superiority and awesomeness. You don't deserve what is here, you deserve (are entitled to, really) a much larger salary, consistently huge bonuses, stock options and employment for life with a big pharma company. So, the question remains: why are you still here?

Jeezzz...is Muammar Gaddafi running this company and now posting?

Terrible and inappropriate response.

The OP is the group that has gone through interviews and hiring and has been told so many things during the process that have turned-out to be manifestly untrue. Furthermore, during the last year, the OP has been in the field following the direction and management of those who make the plans.

If you want to rant and tee-off on someone because the results are poor and are projected to be even poorer, then go look in the mirror and have a few choice words at the person who should be held responsible.

It's apparent that the OP held a mirror up so that you could see the last yourself over the last year.
