Hey Riad, Here's My Plan

OP here- well said, completely agree. Merck remains a primary care mentality with too many silos in a landscape that needs true vision and innovative products. I think Riad was brought in to be the hatchet man, since I have not seen anything else from him in the Specialty arena. My new motto is this: If they are talking, I'm not listening! Could they seriously be senior management and not have seen this coming-at least in HCV?

BTW- Working smart and being compliant is in many ways an oxymoron. Ain't nothing terribly smart about how we are being forced to do things. But definitely slow. Maybe the motto should be to work slow, be compliant, and use lots of words to say nothing. But be sure to plan because THAT'S going to get you to the next trip with Merck leaders. Woo hoo- where do I sign up?

Merck's motto: If we're talking, we're lying.

I would love to share my plan with you, but writing it down is a Policy 1B violation...

Isn't the company plan to drop the ball on Hepatitis C? Learn HIV to make them money then wait and see if MK5172 means anything to anyone in a couple of years? Now the customers know Merck doesn't care about HCV either unless they make enough money selling their drugs.

just do not gloat too much to our brothers and sisters who betrayed us to a company they thought owned the HCV market. Save the gloating for around the first week of November in Boston. They will have so much egg on their faces. Thanks TP for the leadership and thanks for the trip to the Bahamas. My wife and daughter loved it.

It was the most embarrassing demotivating supposed award trip - wish had not gone or subjected my spouse to the travesty. Merck has lost it's way

well, we must agree to dis-agree. I was honored to have been chosen. My daughter loved playing with the dolphins! It was a trip she will not forget easily. We simply had a nice break from the year of hard work. I am refreshed now and cant wait for the new challenges.

You are a blind fool, which is exactly what Merck wants. That's about all that's left.

You will have more than your share of challenges soon enough.

You should have left as I did.

Well, since you are talking to me, I guess I will respond for myself, although I do appreciate the last poster being a valued team member (see we here at Merck actually appreciate things like "a team player" - something you and your cronies will never get to experience at your new "company" ) I digress, sorry, I will only say that you may not be as happy and smug as you seem to be now in about, oh - maybe 6 months. Lets see how confident and smug you are then, but remember that once you leave Mother, there is no re-attachment of the umbilical cord. Don't even try. The answer will be NO.

Well, that benefit concert in NYC to kick off the campaign was great. The Allman Brothers (led by poster boy Gregg) and surprise appearance by Natalie Cole sure was sweet. Hanging out with all of them beat any sales trip, that's for sure.

That's very amusing. In six months, I intend to be more happy and smug than ever. And I wouldn't return to Mommy Dearest if they doubled my salary and Riad knelt before me and begged.

Frankly, it's you that I am concerned for six months from now. I wish you the best, but anticipate the worst for you and the others. I think I and my cronies will be fine. Good luck.

Yup, we are losing some FINE individuals. Some people I respect more than myself. Gilead doesn't deserve them. However, even at Gilead there is at least one good manager (wait maybe 2, if KD has not been corrupted). Thankfully, those two will shield my friends who, quite frankly, deserve the best.

Always heard that it was easier to come back from the dead than come back to employment at Merck after one's left their dear mother. But never say never...much to my disbelief, mother has re-hired former employees, so it is possible. Why anyone would want to come back to Merck at this point is dismaying.

We are also very happy that you left - we do not want assholes in are group

Thank you S3 for your reply this morning. Now run along and rehearse your VM that you will be leaving for the district bright and early tomorrow morning about how great and special you are.

I have always said "It will take a Lot for me to join a "sinking ship". I said that from the very beginning. I still believe that its a sinking ship.

As I was viewing your diatribe, I received my invitation to the S3 Executive Training Program. As you may or most likely may not be aware, we (S3s) will be over seeing the Inventiv contract professionals as the salesforce is converted. I for one can't wait! Oh by the way,you won't need to worry where you are in this picture.
