Hawthorn Sales Reps

and it should really speak volumes to how bad it is when people like DG and JA leave. they made decent money with good coverage but they hated the way they were treated. and AC didnt help matters either.

DG came back shithead, so obviously wasn't that bad! Girl from last year still here and kicking ass! JA's husband took over her territory and also doing extremely well. People move on with their life bc they want a new challenge out of life- as should you. Its the name of the game.! Like saying the first job you had when you were sixteen sucked because no one works there anymore. what a joke! take your penis out of your mouth now for talking out your ass-- dumb ass. No wonder we fire dumb shits like you. you have no clue what the hell is going on around you and is the reason you sucked at sales. poor bastard

If I am referencing the correct rep, DG, I dont think she exactly went to work for a good pharma company? I think it was some kind of DME or something? Not even the same!

Oh ok. so we are splitting hairs? Whats good pharma? Company that gives you a great salary, car, phone, lap top, massage with happy ending? then fires you after 6 months of promoting their product like many are doing right now? That kind of good pharma? B/c all the good pharma that you keep talking about are now turning to contract reps. You have no clue. and who cares where DG worked. Point is she came back to work. WORK is WORK!

Can anyone please give me the inside scoop of what they ask in a face to face interview?

Are you kidding me? Seriously? You want to know how to interview? Perhaps you were one of those in college that would get an assignment from teacher and right away ask for help because you were to damn lazy to read the instructions, right? If you don't know how to interview, go waste another company's time.

OMG are you kidding me? I know how to interview I just wanted some advice on what to expect!!!!!! You must be another one of those miserable people on here. Most people would be happy to help someone out but I guess your not one of them. FYI I graduated with a 3.9. People on here jump down other people's throat for nothing.

I don't want to get in the way of your argument about the interview and all...but, I can't believe that Hawthorn is actually HIRING people! I assumed they were in layoff mode. Interview if you want -- consider it an entry-level opportunity in pharma. But get out as quickly as possible and move to a real company. Hawthorn and the other companies like it probably won't be around long.

After reading all the comments on here I am hesitant about Hawthorn. I have an interview tomorrow for a NJ territory. I currently work for a newspaper - complete dying industry with heavy layoffs. Haven't gotten a raise due to salary freeze since I started - 3 years ago! We are micromanaged like I've never experienced before. I thought Hawthorn might be a good move to a different industry.

If you are looking for real advice you wont find it on this site. I worked at hawthorn for a few years and I had a good experience. I work for another medical company not in pharma currently. You will get good experience here if you put in the effort. If you listen to these idiots/vomits you wouldnt work for any company on this site. This is a place to go for the viruses of every company. Go interview and see if its the right fit for you and your family. Don't be weak minded and listen to the trash on this place. Good luck!

You may as well not even IV now since you have given yourself away with this post. Management at Hawthorn is known for reading these boards.

Poster #36, this is #35. I do not (and have never) worked for Hawthorne. I have no axe to grind with Hawthorne or its management. I have, however, worked in this industry for similar companies.

Here is the honest truth: those great jobs you hear about in pharmaceutical sales might exist, but they don't exist with Hawthorn or other like companies. Hawthorn's products have no brand recognition and offer little to no value above that of generic products very similar to them. Insurance companies and Medicaid do not like to pay for their products, and in many cases won't pay for them or will charge a high co-pay to the patient.

Doctors may nod their head all day and say that they will write scripts for Hawthorn's products, but if the patient gets to the pharmacy and has to pay $40 for the Hawthorn drug when they can get something almost identical for $10 -- what do you think they will do? And if the pharmacist even bothers to call the doctor and ask to substitute (in most cases, they will just sub the product anyway), 9 out of 10 times, the doc will say "okay."

The base compensation and benefits are low for the industry. You may be promised all kinds of "uncapped" commissions, but the scenario above will make it very difficult, if not impossible, to ever earn those commissions.

Hawthorne may well beat the newspaper industry at this point, I will admit. As I said in my previous post, if this is your best option, give it a try. This will be your entry into the pharma industry where you can gain some experience and leverage it to a bigger and better company. Just go into it with your eyes open and realistic expectations.

If Hawthorn is gong into NJ, PA, or Washington its going to be a recipe for disaster. Never trust their business sense for expanding into new territories. They dont understand the managed care landscape and most likely will give the rep 3-6 months before they decide either the territory isnt feasable or the rep was a bad fit. If your in a pinch and need a job then go for it at least you will have something on your resume to say you were in pharma. Believe me I've seen them do this time and time again.
