Have You Notice All The Old Farts Love Contract, The Young And Ambitious Hate It.

Anyone who thinks 'career' and Pharma marketing/sales is just naive. the 'young & ambitious' are too stupid to realize their is no future in this game anymore. Some (like me) got a taste of the good life about 10 years ago. Now in 34 and have no marketable skill set that transfers to another industry. Pharma sales isnt even sales, its marketing what someone tild you to market, so cant even get a marketing job. Only insurance companies want me. I have probably 30 more earning years in my life an need to wake up and move on from pharma but it's allowed me to develop such a bad work ethic I'm not ready to go 9-5. So this contract work is what I'll hold on to as long as I can.

Good luck youngins & heed my advice and get out before you end up like me. No where to go but to start over in another industry.

Great post,50 something here but never considered myself "old". There is NO future in this biz. My prediction is 75% less reps in 2-3 years. The best situated are those with RNs or advanced science degrees. To the little prick who wrote the obnoxious statement, why don't you run for president, create world peace, make a million bucks while your young and know everything.
PS Glaxo paid for my MBA, unless your going to an ivy school (your not or you wouldn't be on this board) it does zip for a pharma or any other career. So good luck youngin!

"your not or you wouldn't be on this board" and you received an MBA? You don't know, and please do not suggest it is a typo, it should be you're. I hope the University of Phoenix learned you your guzzintas as well. I am sure they are very proud of their MBA alumnists.

All the old farts I work with on my contract work at the most one hour a day. They love these worthless jobs because they can do nothing! For the rest of us that want to make a real living and get ahead we realize these are complete career suicide! I cannot imagine being over 40 and a fucking contract rep. Better yet over 40 and defending it like it is a real job.
Oh Little Lion Man! Talk to me after you've buried a couple loved ones and stood at the Gates of Hell as we all must at some point. If you were all that, you would already be that... and not working for anyone else! Good Luck, we'll pray for you!

HUH? Try Abilify. Start on a high dose. Very high. good day.

Work your contract job as a side job like everyone else and quit bitchin'.

When I first started I thought I would have a chance to get on with the company direct. Those reps are all dicks and think they are so superior. They do work their asses off compared to my team but I don't know why. They will not go anywhere either. Until I get something that pays what I am worth I will kick back and throw em' back.

You are worth what you are being paid! Thats it. Thats the way it works. If you were worth more you would not be a CSO making this type of money. I worked BI for 4 months and left for Nursing school in Jan. I will be making what I am worth in June when I finish my degree. I cannot think of too many people these jobs work for.

Yeah, we 50 year old gray hairs have it bad. Took the large packages and retired for one company to go and work contract. Not because we can't manage finances, but because we like to work! The extra income helps us to fund our over seas trips.... you kids know about Europe, Japan, Austrailia? Working on our bucketlists!
