Future of Neuroscience

Kiss it goodbye. Massive resource burn with nothing delivered in how long? "Leadership" on research side is now a laughing stock of incompetence (even by LLY standards) and are on the bottom of the totem pole in terms of portfolio influence. It's over--get out now while you have a choice

What's happening INSIDE Corporate Center with Neuroscience? I left Lilly last year, so don't know all the latest. Recent news about semagacestat was...quite a surprise, to say the least.

Even he saw the writings on his wall--plus The Mad Swede of AZ has absolutely no respect for him or his lack of leadership of what was once a great NSD dept. Thus back to academe with him. He will not be missed.

Interviews are going on now. As to the rest, the smart ones (ie, those not in denial) are pulling the rip cord. Massive cuts coming to Neuro-related DHTs. No stomach for Neuro anymore due to expensive failures that don't differntiate from placebo and/or generics. Late Stage Alzheimer failure was just the start--more big time Ph.III trial failures on the way (things actually factored into future revenue streams) Stay tuned...the WORST is yet to come.

WHY??? Sorry, not a scientist here. WHAT is going on with the drugs in Ph. III trials? Didn't they foresee this far enough back to change course?!

You don't have to be a scientist to comprehend the only things they 'foresee' are their PM metrics and bonuses...kick the can down the road...LOOK WE MET OUR METRICS and PM GOALS!! It's froth, bûllšhît and smoke and mirrors. When it all falls down, blame others as you pad your pockets. Surely you know this by now. And if you don't, then what do you know?

Okay, and I wish I didn't know alot about the "blame others" games that are so prevalent--have been stabbed to death by THAT dishonesty.

All R&D has been outsourced to China. Just think about it.

I happen to know a very well educated scientist who has multiple patents (some so ground breaking that implementation is probably about 20 years away - that is the nature of scientific research). This scientist is now unemployed and makes about $500 per week helping other scientists and engineers to patent their work. These are the folks that Lilly could have had in the 1970s and 1980s to become a major powerhouse for new therapies.

Instead, Lilly is positioning itself to train the Chinese how to rip off what is left of Lilly's intellectual property in the most appropriate way possible. It is truly stunning and profoundly stupid. Hey I wish all of you luck, but don't expect any miracles unless you are expecting to change the business plan to cheap consumer goods production. Hey, why not?

Flawless implementation of our fatally-flawed FIPNet Chinese-communist anschluß allows countless layers of useless 'research management' to claim imaginary cost savings and rack up the bonuses. What an innovation-engine, eh folks? We'll see how many more quarters this will last...
