Dude, if the car is the most important thing to you at Merck, maybe you should look for work outside of this industry.

Sorry to learn about the death of a family member; however this has no bearing on the thread history. The Fusion is a safe car!

The majority of the posters on any company piss and moan about nothing, just like you!!!

So would you consider the donkey?

I have a feeling the complainant of getting a Ford Fusion as the ultimate insult to a valuable rep, once given a fully loaded BMW, would start complaining about the color of the trackpoint on the ThinkPad being red and the position of it is causing carpel tunnel syndrome, another indication that Mother Merck just does not care.

Obviously you don't work in port sales. Let's say "one days worth" = one case of each strength of each product, Port 1 = 4 sing, 2 dul, 2 clar, 1 ava, 1 asm, 1 naso, = a minimum of 11. Port 2 2 jmt, 1 jan, 2 vyt, 1 zet, 2 max, 2 lev = 9 and frequenlty one case will not get you through the day. There is not enough room in these cars and reps are violating policy every day by carring product in the back seat. Why do we have clueless people in charge of these decisions???

Good thing that Pharma companies are trending towards only having a need for specialized products therefore limiting the amount of primary care reps needed. Either this will give less reps more products in primary care or less reps less products in primary care if they start focusing on Oncology, HIV, Virology etc.

$$$$$$$ That's right all about $$$$$$. the car is less expensive to lease and has better MPG.
Merck has thousands in the fleet. I would make the same decision. Did I prefer the Impala because of the trunk... yup. Can I still perform my job with this car..yes. Enough said

Is your point PC to contract companies? Specialty reps as our field sales people? Could this be the trend? Keep high level Merck /SP reps for specialty offices as the only Merck reps?

Can senior management think of anything else to embarrass men? If Merck leadership thinks this is going to attract and retain talent they must be smoking crack.

I'm grateful to have a company car but the Ford Fusion is 100% a "chick car". While reducing costs senior management has also hatched a diabolical plan to eliminate all self-respecting male reps (who are heterosexual) or emasculate the ones who stay. I'm updating my resume now.

You are an IDIOT.

I do count my blessings for being in this position. Pharma has been good to me only because of timing. What many of us were able to do in retirement planning as career field reps is sadly no longer possible. I'm also looking at another part time opportunity that I can do from my home office computer in health information services. It pays $500/week or $2000/month for working 2.5 days/week. It is our fun money for trips, concerts, and various sports. My investments now are extremely conservative. We'll see how the markets hold up over the next couple of months and reaccess things after the November election results are known.
Been looking for something like this. Care to pass on the info via PM?

i was laid off last year with another pharma company. I was driving a 2010 fusion, and before I got it, I really didn't look forward to it. I was so pleasantly surprised. May be my favorite company car in 25 years. My wife has an 09 accord and the fusion was much nicer. I now drive a '97 forerunner hand-me-down from my kid and you can imagine what this complaining about the fusion sounds like to me.
