FLM's hit hard

I hope I am competing for a job against one of these tools. Most have zero sales skills they just make spreadsheets all day. I would give away my first born to see my manager get canned!

So true! My manager does NOTHING when he rides with me. Never gives me feedback. And some offices he does not go into with me. Then there are other times he has to leave early for a "conference call"....right! He really just slows me down and wastes my time. Mostly though, I'm not getting the chance to learn and develop....which I thought was the point of a field visit anyway. The time I've been with Novartis under this manager has been a waste for my career development...except I have won awards that I can put on my resume.

That's great cause last year my manager took my job. I did get hired back to another territory but hopefully justice will be served and this person will be out the door with their hefty salary right behind. worthless POS

wonder how many of those FLMs will be taking rep jobs. It happened last year. a lot.....several took jobs of reps, only to hang around for next brm, kam or management position....unfortunately for the reps 'displaced' by the manager, they can't be rehired by novartis. New of several situations where the company then when OUTSIDE novartis to fill the then vacant rep job. nice.

FLMS will NOT be able to replace reps this year. MDs were NOT able to replace FLMs..The question came up this week and I heard it straight out of the horses mouth!

The odd part is: the creepiest most self-important FLMs are clinical sociopaths or have clinical personality disorders. Evil people. They change there spots to fit the environment.
The worst of the worst. Those with harassment and intimidation complaints against them do just fine.

The karma never arrives for them. They do just fine. Never skip a beat.

Since the rest of corporate America is lead by psychopath's, they fit right in a do it all over again. It is hard to watch. I have noticed that most do great. Bullies tend get jobs first. Sad, but true.

Plus, when you are still unemployed and your pod-mate calls to advise you they landed a 100k base with all the trimmings-Be happy and supportive. Your time will come. But remember it is the honeymoon phase. Reality sits in quickly.

You all can bash the managers all you want, but remember one thing. There is not one manager here that was not very successful in your job. They may not all be good managers, but they were good reps, award winners, top producers, consistent leaders within their teams.

Think about some of the things the managers could say about their reps Are All of the reps good reps? Would it be fair for a manager to "lump" all reps together based on the worst reps they have worked with?

Wow! You are taking this way too personally! If you are one of the FLMs who is decent, then obviously this tread is not about you. The OP is venting because of his/her experiences. I don't want to be forward, just saying that there are some FLMs out there who should not be in that position. In fact, that is just about what you said...they may all not be good managers.

look everyone is gone reps and FLM's. There are good and bad for both.

Hey you could have left at anytime stop the BS do not blame your shitty work habit on the FLM. If you worked even 6 hrs you were left alone those that got canned worked 1-3 hrs and you know it. There are FLM's that suck but you have the make the best of it or leave.
Because your life sucks dont blame it on a FLM.

Where do you evil, little people come from? geez

Word is that FLM's will be laid off in substantial numbers. I for one can't wait to hear which of my favorites get "displaced"! This could be better than Survivor and American Idol combined. Wish I could vote on who stays and who goes. "The tribe has spoken" and as I always like to say, Karma is hell!

I would not be so quick to celebrate when they get laid off. Remember last time around, they got first dibs at the remaining jobs which left fewer for everyone else. It may end up with very few reps remaining and all the FLMs with the rep jobs.

I have had 6 managers in my pharma career. Only 2 have been fantastic. The others I learned not to hold my breath for. Just because someone is a great rep, which I'm sure all of them were, doesn't translate to being a great (or even mediocre) rep. It's a COMPLETELY different job managing people which some are great and some well, it's just the wrong position for them.
