then your lawyer is either a fool or a desperate crook or both. AZ would never negotiate a severance with your attorney. if you are fired and sue AZ then maybe after dragging your ass through hot lava and broken glass for 3 fucking years, if you are still standing then maybe. but by then you would have lost any chance of legitimate employment and your attorney would take most of your severance. The lawyer always wins and the client almost always loses. Don't do it AZ will destroy you because they cannot allow a precedent to be set where every Tom Dick and Sally thinks they can sue the company or negotiate for a better severance and win. It isn't going to happen.

Hillarious how many times and ways AZ have posted that a lawyer is an awful idea! They really dont want lawyers eyeballing these shite deals! Eventually one will organize a class action and cost the company huge.
If you're fired for bringing representation and as much is verbally said w/ a witness or better yet its written...you will win that case all day long. That said these aren't dumb people, they will act like nothing happened and a month later youll be fired for unrelated nonsense.
Take the meeting w/out a rep BUT DONT SIGN ANYTHING they will pressure you be prepared for it... they may give you an ultimatum sign or else... turn it down if they fire you after the fact it looks really bad on their part. Gather all the papers and say you need a few days to go over some things, talk to the spouse, sleep on it, etc...Basically stall and have a lawyer that specializes in this sort of thing give you advice. Do it quick, they will know what you're doing
If youve done your homework and documentated all the ways AZ has wronged you over the years, violated laws, upper mgmt bad behaviour, or you have other sensitive knowledge carefully and in a non threatening way make it known. Everything comes down to a black/white equation and if you have anything of leverage and present it appropriately it can be worth many times over the $1k lawyer advice

Law source here. Never said they would allow a rep in the room. If you nitwits had any reading comprehension you wouldnt need to pay lawyers to begin with. These situations turn so ugly for the very reasons you so elegantly display in these threads. You guys have gotten sloppy but thats what happens when bullies get their way. You've been told you're bulletproof by the pinheads. Word travels non disclosures or not. AZ is about as bad as it gets w/ cancerous management. The sharks dont need to be in the room theyre waiting for um at the exits. If you're an employee there's a reason why theyre on here blasting lawyers and it aint because theyve got your best interest in mind. Document everything, call your recently let go colleagues, and go talk to a lawyer.

Deny deny deny request copies of whatever bs documents they have if any at all. Document everything during the meeting. Trust me theyre too lazy to go about this sort of thing properly. Theyve already plucked the low hanging fruit. Suddenly model employees w/ outstanding track records and reviews for a decade get setup and spit out. They want your retirement cost off the books. Remember your resume is toxic, AZ hasnt groomed you to succeed in fact its the opposite. You will be looked at like an old, unskilled, lazy, leech. Theyve painted the picture on these boards of how happy youll be when you leave and go earn your wage elsewhere. Not true it will end badly for you and your family. These people are not your friends, donot make it easy for them. Youve given them your best years and have earned your seat at the table. Truth is once they see youre lawyered up theyll pay you handsomly or move on to the next guy
A lawyer will make no difference in the initial outcome. AZ will not negotiate with you regardless of how many lawyers you hire. If you want to sue them then that is different. They already have a department of lawyers who are being paid regardless of whether they are beating the shit out of you or sitting around waiting for something to do. Being fired is bad enough, but what they have in store for you if you push it to the courts is to totally destroy you to discourage anyone else from trying it. You may end up with a few more thousands in your pocket but the price you will pay in time, anxiety, and destroyed reputation will not be worth it. First they take your job, then they take your dignity and future.
