FDE's are equal now

Hey OP. Fact- go on the HR posting site. You will see in sales there are 12 current positions- WOW... Again, if we ever have an expansion all the contracts will be long expired with the CONTRACTED hires long gone. You really don't get the nature of the contract that you signed. The fascinating psychological experiment is manipulating the FDEs into believing they have a real chance of gaining FTE status (just because you are eligible to post for a position). The company knows we have very few current openings and not many on the horizon. Vacant territories are being collapsed and realigned to current reps that don't have enough customers... unless its a division that's considered one with growth products, and I can assure you( Forteo specialty, Oncology, Elanco) will not take an FDE over a current talented/ tenured FTE!

ouch. this poster hit hard, but unfortunately all true:(

Yes, Lilly like all companies has a convenient habit of posting more positions than are currently available. Among other things, that makes everyone think the company is doing well, that they are hiring, that there is job security. Also serves to get resumes for cherry picking.

Sheer brilliance. What they lack in honesty...

FDE = Fully Disposable Entities

and

FDE = Faulty Deranged Executives.

Fully Disposable Entities = Faulty Deranged Executives

Get rid of them all.

OP Here:

The above post was posted at noon today. A work day. In an era of team goals.

No wonder the FTE's are so defensive.

I get it!!!

Thanks for the lesson guys. You Rock!!!

Out of all the posts, this is 100% accurate and factual. For those FDEs that feel they have any greater sense of entitlement- please refer to your contract, or more recently the top ten questions that John L highlighted from his web conference. LLY makes it clear the nature/ relationship of FDEs and their contracts.... We need you when business is good( pipeline is thriving), and we eliminate you when it's not... It's THAT black and white.

When the FDE concept was introduced, everything you write was explained to us FTEs very clearly. I do wonder, though, what the FDE candidates were actually told by their recruiters or by others during the hiring process. Many do think that they are somehow entitled to more consideration. I don't fault the OP though. I am glad to have someone so motivated working for Lilly (for however long), and the point is well-taken. There are many instances where the FDE has outperformed an FTE. The bottom line, though, is that there is no provision of employment in the FDE contract rewarding such instances.

I thank this poster. This is a reasoned reponse. And I understand the perspective of the other more sensitive FTE folks as well.

Also, I know the nature of my contract and by definiton I am done soon, you are correct.

To reiterate my point though. We can now post for open FTE positions . AND if you have a good reputation you have a shot at an endorsement from your Area Manager to move in to an open postion.

I remain perplexed why this struck such a nerve?

I am the poster you cited above. I think I was trying to address your question in my post. I believe that it is because the purpose of the FDE program was made very clear to the FTEs when the program started, so folks wonder why some FDEs seem so gung-ho to outperform their FTE counterparts- as though there is something explicit in it for them in doing so.

But perhaps there is also something of a prejudice at work here as well and I don't know if it is specifically because you are FDE or just because you are new(er). I do think there is an underlying attitude that FDEs (or newbies) should be quiet and humble and contrite until they have proven themselves worthy of the respect of their peers, which they will receive only after several years of quietly toiling away. That's kinda the Lilly way. The problem with being FDE is that there is always a delineation present in your title, so even if you work your butt off, your still not really in the fold. On the flip side, you are incentivized to be loud and proud because you want to join the team, but that attitude might work against you amongst some sales reps. But screw them. All you can control is you, and if you know you are doing the right thing by Lilly, it will all come out in the wash, one way or another. I believe that with all my heart.

a bit of wounded pride at work here, as well. In our heart of hearts, I think some FTEs do (and should) feel threatened by

OP Here:

This poster is very well spoken. I really do spend a lot of time trying to prove I deserve the FTE designation and ended up leading everyone in every catagory this year. Again, not bragging just a little sad.

I am in finals with other companies as we speak and wish I didnt have to. So, for all of you FTE's that complain about a 2% increase on Cymbalta (the best drug in it's class) please have some perspective.

Thanks above poster. I'll miss Lilly. And I know they will miss me for a short time. Almost 200% to plan on a launch product, no one even close. The other 2 were well over 105%. Again, no one else even hit all three.

But according to my contract I have to go if the FTE positions dont go my way. I get it.

Thanks for your empathy.

See ya! We have enough stuffed shirts here at Lilly!

Good Luck!

OP Here:

What are you talking about? Just curious. How can what I said be indicative of being a stuffed shirt?

Take a look at the spider graph in all of the Cymbalta stuff and see if any apply. Maybe I could help you.

Good Luck to you!

Please reread your original post you pompous a$$!

You'll be better off some where else....anywhere but here.

"I lead my district in every catagory. Behavior, ranking, leadership, sales numbers and mentorship. Exemplary and High successful accross the board. I happen to be and FDE.

There are at least 3 other FDE's in my area doing the same.

The top performing Cymbalta rep in the country is an FDE.

Every meeting has at least a third of the MVP's are FDE's. We are (percentage wise) the leaders of a very productive Area.

As I make my last call call my FTE counterparts have been home an hour in thier "comfy clothes".

Well, starting November 1, 2012 FDE's are able to post for all open positions without a predisposed favoring of FTE's and will be equal during the reallocation. Not sure if the new positons are FDE or FTE but it doesnt matter. We now are equal in the hiring/reallocation process.

Smart, because HR is supporting the keeping of all good reps FTE or FDE.

Bad FTE's are now in a more precarious position than performing FDE's. You better have a better ePM than me (doubt it) and better numbers (doubt it) or you are gone!!!

My, how the worm has turned."

Buddy, you know nothing about leadership or teamwork. Your original post speaks volumes! All about the GREAT you.

Best of luck in your new job, hopefully you can continue your greatness. All FDE's I know are great and Lilly will be lucky to retain them as FTE if that time comes. Though, you don't seem to be true lilly material. Better luck at Forrest or Pfizer.
