Farewell Fanapt

Again, this thread is not done!! Yes, you can be trained on a new disease but that my friend does not give you the relationships, contacts, and experience to sell in a new arena, PERIOD!!
That is the whole point. Why did NVS hire all those outside people to sell Gilenya ?, Can I please have the answer, putz!!

I knew that putz had no answer. Case closed!!!

I am not the putz you are refering to, but here is an answer. It's called sales dick bag. If you can't develop new relationships and sell in a new arena, than you really are just one if the inept pharma reps who needs to be handed everything to do the job. Of course Novartis hired reps from the outside first. Until Gilenya, there was no MS specialty sales force. A savvy business person would realize that to jump start a product such as Gilenya, you hire reps with previous experience in the therapeutic area. If you knew the MS landscape at all you would realize hiring from the outside was smart for this specific occasion. The first oral treatment for MS would certainly not arouse suspicion in doctor's minds when their Copaxone rep switched companies and is now selling Gilenya. Most cases, hiring reps from companies selling competitor products almost always backfires. Where is the credibility? Hey doc, I told you previously that this product was the best for your patients...oh wait...I was just fucking with you...write this product now. However, since there is time until a new product is launched like the products mentioned, it would be more economical and smarter to train the current neuro psych sales force for this purpose rather than to lay-off, pay severances, hire and train a new sales force.

No you are not the first putz but you are the second one. If your statement about hiring competitive reps almost always backfires then why do 100% of pharma companies now hiring always look for the people with the specific territory knowledge, contacts, and experience in that specific selling arena. Example, try as a neuro-psych rep applying to an oncology position and see if you get any response, I don't think so!! Same goes with all the different specialty positions. Yes there may be a few select people that can get picked up outside of their experience, but that is the exception and not the rule my friend!!

The second putz that did not have an answer!
Another case closed!!
Next!

Fanapt reps will be getting new strength of Exelon Patch and will be calling on neuro's again. PC reps will be downsized and will overlap with neuro-psych reps but not in all territories. Trying desperately to buy a product or company but nothing working right now. Mgr telling me timeline for Feb-March 2013 layoffs unless product or company bought. PC has nothing to sell. This is horrible.

Makes sense that they want to acquire a company or some other drug to promote. That way they can hold onto the reps until something else gets approved but ultimately, it will cost them either way.
I guess my question is why do they need to keep the Fanapt reps in all cases. There may be 2 PC reps in a territory and these reps may be better than the Fanapt rep so they may decide to move one PC rep over. I do think there will be a realignment and then in most cases, there may not be many reps cut.

They do not need to keep the fanapt rep in all cases. When they do the new structure everyone will be put into a pool on equal terms then the consulting guidelines will kick in. There are many good PC reps currently calling on the neuros and a lot of the decision will be based on if they want to continue selling fanapt the next two years and continue to lose money on it. Either way, if no new product or acquisition is made there most definitely will be an adjustment to the sales force!

You are borderline retarded. I have received calls from Teva, Warner Chilcott and BMS in the past 3 weeks alone for specialty and all outside my current territory in other therapeutic areas. It would seem that your background, success and ability to sell yourself is pretty pathetic. Just because you think that 100% of pharma is looking for territory knowledge and contacts does not deem it to be true. Your "opinion" is based on your on inability to break into other arenas. No doubt you are probably an average rep with a degree in communications or some other worthless major. You obviously do not stand out in a crowd and your resume looks exactly the same as every other average rep out there. If the walls come crumbling down here, I will be able to move on with ease while you are left among the average thinking that pharma only hires based on contacts and territory knowledge. Your inept ability to be the exception is insulting and a testament to how weak and unskilled most reps are these days. Keep on spewing your mediocrity and good luck living inside your box. Putz.

Funny how you think getting calls for other specialty types of positions means you would land any of them. I get the same calls everyday just like everyone else. Again, I am not saying you can't break out of your therapeutic area but it is the EXCEPTION and NOT THE RULE! Your profiling of me can't be further from the truth, as I am only saying what is a fact and not an opinion! Good luck on your Teva and BMS interviews!!, PUTZ !

Haha! You crack me up. Not once have you made any attempts to address anything I have stated. You mention nothing about your background or lack there of and you can't even understand that I answered your question directly. You asked about getting calls, so I answered. I don't have to think I will land those jobs because I have landed jobs like those in the past both inside pharma as well as biotech and in B2B sales. The real question is, if you are so unhappy and worried about the neuro psych BU, then call back those companies that call you every day and land the job champ. Oh wait, I forgot, you are just average like most everyone else and can't land those jobs. If your performance and background were impressive at all, you wouldn't see things the way you do. You just can't be the exception because you suck. The exception is reserved for stars, which apparently you are not. I guess you are one of those mediocre sales people that I beat out on every job. You proved my point above. "I get the same calls everyday like everyone else". Well, someone lands those jobs, it just isn't you. I've wasted enough of my time trying help your inferior brain understand. Good luck with your daily phone calls bitch. I'm out. Got better things to do.

Got better things to do, right. I have responded to your comments and you have validated my facts about the jobmarket looking for the experienced reps in a specific therapeutic area. If you have the background you say you have it is pretty sad you are doing what you are at the current time. Without going into too much detail, I have landed a position in another specialty area with another company that seems to be very rewarding both financially and personally. I do not need to put you down or call you names besides "putz" because that is what you are. I have simply stated the facts about the current hiring environment and what hiring managers are mostly looking for. In a court of law I would win a unaminous vote against you with my argument. Now if you think you are that special I would think about what you are going to say on your next interview and maybe you will be as fortunate as I am to have gotten out of the dead-end neuro-psych business unit. Good Luck, PUTZ !!

As a former Fanapt rep, I think the NP sales force is some of the best reps within the company. What other group has to sell a product with no clear advantages, no real clinical data, complicated dosing, and no future investment in new indications? No to mention having to penetrate, physician offices, community clinics, and hospitals!? I would put a Fanapt rep up against any rep in Novartis any day of the week. Oh and did I mention that 90% of the patients who need it are uninsured or on medicaid and can't afford it? With that being said though, all current Fanapt reps should definitely prepare for life outside Novartis. If the company gets new products, that's great but it's worth being prepared to do other things. Don't live your life on pins and needles hoping that the company does what is in your best interest.

New product? You guys are smoking something! Why would a company pick Novartis to market their product? When was the last successful product launch by Novartis? Oh, I know why they might pick Novartis. Novartis will overpay by many millions up front then spend millions marketing a dog product and pay us royalties even though the product is a dog! Are you a Fan of Fanapt yet?
