EPBU lack of samples

- hate to say it but I'll say it anyway: "Told you so..." The contract will not last to December 2014. Saying it will continue through the summer of 2014 is S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G it. Sorry. This is the new reality as far as this contract is concerned. Merck has changed business plans for 2014 based on recent setbacks and events and so this contract isn't part of the majority of those business plans anymore.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that Merck's leadership does not recognize the value this contract brings to the company. It does. It's been proven. There are still folks in the leadership that want this to continue, but the majority is convinced that ending this contract is "in the best interest" of the company.

Sorry but this reply sounds real and if there is no basis to this then... The powers that be need to reassure the loyal reps. out there who are dependent on this contract or we will start jumping ship!!

Because Merck has an excess of reps. FDA didn't grant approval for two drugs. They are also under increasing pressure not to lay off anymore employees (at least for now).

OP here, okay now we are not getting Avelox samples until November. It would be nice to have the resources we need to service our customers. Something is just not right. We are almost at the end of our agreement with Bayer, why would they be late with the samples?

BECAUSE WE ARE ALL GONNA BE FIRED!!!!!!

I do read the emails and know that we are not promoting Avelox anymore, however it would still be nice to have the Avelox (like Proventil) samples now to get more face time with the doctors. Since I run out of Nasonex and Asmanex and don't have Dulera samples, it would be nice to leave something. But of course you are going to probably have a sarcastic remark for this as well.

This sounds real to you? First of all, you will NEVER hear news about contract negotiations on Cafepharma. I emphasize never, because if there were any evidence that Cafepharma has ever been accurate in predicting anything it would be easy to search and reference. It would also be easy to search for false information, particularly regarding predictions and "inside information" about the impending demise of any contract.

This is sport for some people, mostly trolls, some disgruntled displaced folks, and troubled reps in general. Those claiming to be "in the know" are never in the know, and most likely not part of the contract at all. In a recent example, the anonymous poster suggested that district sizes would be reduced from 9 reps to 4 or 5. Yeah, that was going to happen. In another, the poster started with "Insider here" and proceeded to break the bad news . . .which, of course, never happened. It never does.

The flare ups are also predictable. They generally follow any hint of a change in status-quo. "It's a sign!" they will tell you, and some gullible fool-or the anonymous OP himself, will chime in with a grim and regrettable confirmation. This is so common that nobody with any history on this site takes these warnings seriously. But, maybe if you are new, you may find this stuff just credible enough to let it get into your head. Don't.

But, what about the samples? I remember asking the same question countless times over the years. No question, samples help. I suppose one option would have been to delay responsibility for promotion until samples were available, but I prefer this option. So, we do the best we can with the tools we have now, we manage our resources with a little more thought, and we make sure that what we do makes a measurable difference.

The negative posters on Cafepharma represent about 1-2 percent of the total field force. They aren't seeking solutions. They come here to commiserate with their peer group. They are here to vent or fulfill some unmet need in their lives. The rest of us are aware of the challenges we face and we are able to deal with them constructively. We don't need an anonymous board to work things out. Sometimes we drop by, though, just to remind ourselves why we don't need this place.

Then we go back to work.

Cafepharm is usually filled with a lot of idiots but when rumors start on here they usually end up to be true in some form or fashion. Where there's smoke there's fire.
I was with GSK when the latest really big layoff hit about 4 years ago and the rumors started on Cafepharma about 6 months before. Turned out to all be true.
I wouldn't discount everything on here.

Prove it. Just one example of a dire warning being true. Should be as easy as cut/paste.

Where there's smoke, there's fire? There's been plenty of smoke on these threads. Not a hint of fire. Ever.

Sounds like you're either a manager or a rep who's drank the Kool Aid. There is no question that we optimize our resources in these lean times. We've already become proficient at it since samples started to become tight after the Clarinex era. And what we do DOES NOT make a measurable difference. Why? Because the goals/expectations seem to be based on as if we had generous amounts of samples at our disposal. Many areas are sample-sensitive territories.

Don't need this place you say? Yes, you are right though when you said that people come here to fulfill some unmet need - the need to know. When people aren't getting enough information from the company that they work for, they come here. Is this place a reliable source? Not likely, but better than complete silence.

If you on the contract do not bother bantering back and forth with these mental midgets!! The high school comments are most likely comments from someone's high school son! seriously we are done with you.
