Empty Territories-OBU

A lot of speculation about how many empty territories there are in the OBU.
Go to iiview. Scroll over to QTD call average.
There are currently 40 territories with 0 calls for the C4W time period.
There are another 45 territories with an average of 6 or less. You know- like 1.7 call average. There are another 20 with less than 7 call average. I assume these territories had resignations at some point since 11/1/19.
Another 40 fall below 8 call average, but maybe some of those are rural high windshield time territories.

Now this is not science, but I would suspect that over 100 territories have no current rep. I might even speculate that some of those with very low call averages are folks who are waiting to resign and just hanging on with a few calls here and there.

That leaves less than 150 reps.

Thanks iiview.

Okay home office. Keep sipping that koolaid. The ZDs and RDs got rocked by how many key reps and peer leaders jumped ship. I’m friends with many of them and there seems to be a genuine concern for us that are still here. I still plan on riding it out but I’m also in close touch with many of them to see what sort of external opportunities open up in my area. No one actually thinks there’s any sort of long term future here in the OBU, it’s simply an easy paycheck and time with great colleagues until something better shows up.
Reps that have tenure in ophthalmics are so spoiled. Ive never seen auch a sense of entitlement from reps that sell to a specific disease state. They are just pissed that pharma and the medical industry caught up to the space. Its no longer the gravy train it was so they leave to try and find greener pastures. Also please dont reply back that thw are greener because everything is great when you first get to a company. Talk to us in a year.

Well said, I know to be wary now if ex - B&L are in leadership and ‘planning’ on pipeline
You still sounds jealous and bummed you didn't make it. I didn't IV so I'm not bitter, however I have numerous friends that went to Kala and and Dompé I can tell you they are two months in and have managed care already. They have a drug docs want to learn about and are interested in AND a solution at the pharmacy. They don't have KPIs and it sounds like they are actually having fun.... Shire is not the end all be all and small pharma is not a bad place to be. If they do well they all have stock options and will be cashing in BIG TIME. Go back to selling ask iiris and Pillpack, make sure you hit those KPIs and stop spouting lies! I'M LOOKING AND PRAYING TO GET OUT OF HERE.

PDI job is better than no job here. If EyePoint has a job where I live, I’d leave in a second. Lots of surgical jobs are 1099 so a contract gig is often better than a 1099. I’ve spoken with some surgeons about the EyePoint cataract drug and definitely peaks their interest. I hope they expand quickly where I live. To each their own and I guess whatever best suits your career path....I like eye care but would much rather deal with the surgeons vs the optometrists.

Why would you post we are making less? I interviewed with several companies before finding my new home. Every company offered an increase over my Shire salary. all the bonus were the same or better. The lowest salary was $125, just slightly higher than my Shire salary.

Maybe you couldn’t get a higher paying position, but the rest of us certainly did.

Salary increases may be one of the few positives we will take from Shire. We got raises to go to Shire and raises to leave Shire.

I know I am making a great deal more than the Allergan and Alcon pharma reps too.

Make the jump!

Not everyone got a raise to come to Shire, Kathy was extremely unfair in salary range. There were some reps offered 150, while others not even 100. It had nothing to do with your experience or background it had to do with her playing favorites. There were many people with little no to eyecare making a lot and others with more eyecare and p club making less, it's a shit show.
I knew a handful of people with less experience, no p club wins making more than me, very unmotivating. Everyone was told the offers were non negotiable.
The sad thing is people are staying at this company just bc they are too lazy and scared to leave. Many had the KAM carrot dangled, they were offered a role that is just a glorified rep job with a better car you're still selling the same shit and dealing with the same shit management..

Dexycu isn't a good product, it's Dex.. Come on, it's also going to be a hard sell and getting it into ASCs will be more than challenging not to mention it's a contract Salesforce. No thanks

Ummmm, no one said you had to go anywhere. But why trash a place you know nothing about? If people get offers and feel it’s a good fit for them, why post this- unless you didn’t get an offer? OBVIOUSLY many Shire OBU reps didn’t think Shire was the right opportunity any more. Others think it is. Go with what’s best for your own situation. And how about being happy for those who follow their hearts and dreams, be that stay or leave. It’s a job.

You are exactly what Shire OBU was NOT supposed to be. This was supposed to be a group of positive people who wanted to work together as a team. Sometimes circumstances change. New opportunities lead to other opportunities. Shire hired movers and shakers. Some will move in other directions.

Already has permenant J-code. Covered by Medicare. Sounds better than Xiidra and has not even launched.
Most of us are looking for a challenge. That’s why we were attracted to the promos of biomedical, new & novel, rare ophthalmic disease states that Shire promised (but never delivered). We are bored.
Contract sales force? Really? It’s a smart move. Have you looked at your paystub over the last three years? Where has it EVER shown you were a Shire rep? Sarcode.
I would go to Eyepoint in a flash. Hope they expand into my state.
