Duane - your time has come

This is true as he was an RBD for the Pennsylvania Plavix region for a few years starting around 2005. They called him the “Duane train” at meetings. At a POA award ceremony, he recognized a rep for going the extra mile by visiting a doctor’s son in prison and giving him magazines to read. You could hear a pin drop. Folks were shocked. He literally handed out an award for a bribe right in front of legal during a CIA. He is that stupid. Yes he then did a stint in Plavix marketing which did not pan out so they moved him over to Onc as a lateral RBD move back when it was small in 2011. He was later put on a plan by VP LH and pushed out in 2014 for poor business planning and not knowing brand strategies. Then J&J primary care various roles and now you are all the lucky recipients of this guy.

So Duane, you didn’t think your past would catch up to you? Do you think you’re the only one over the past 20 years who has jumped companies? What is great is that home office people do check this website every once in a while and it would be amazing if somebody ask him some questions about this because it’s all true. The biggest Q is why did you leave Bms oncology as an RBD 1 year before one of the biggest launches in the history of cancer to go back to primary care. It makes no sense. He was written up and pushed out and I heard this from the folks involved.

Unfortunately that comes as no surprise. Novartis is know for hiring “leaders “ who are the bottom dwellers. Those that have been rejected by other pharma companies in NJ.

Normally, not a fan of character attacks, but he really truly isn’t a good guy. He can be mean and vindictive, totally unprovoked. I’ll never forget the story of one of his sales reps at J&J. A while back, they used to let reps fly to meetings a day early to avoid super early flights on long travel itineraries. Obviously, they change the policy to cut costs. One of Duane’s reps didn’t realize this and flew in a day early for a POA. He bumped into Duane at the pricey hotel. They exchanged brief small talk, but Duane did ask why he arrived a day early. The rep thought nothing of it only to discover the next day a scathing email from his DM, stating he violated policy, and would have to pay for the hotel out of pocket as the night stay would be removed from the master bill. So yes, Duane actually exerted time and energy to snitch on this rep and cause pain. Who does that?

Wrong. Seen many layoffs here. Existing call points DO matter. CV vs PCP will likely matter.
As a PCP I would be stunned to beat out a CV rep who has spent the last 8+ years calling on Card's. IF Novartis wants to preserve some level of revenue why on Earth would you replace tenured CV reps with PCP's even if that PCP had Card experience? Also won't the newly promoted PCP rep get a massive base pay raise to even starting CV salary? How the hell does that do anything positive?

All that said it appears that Novartis clearly has no clue (since Entresto launch) on how to run a CV division in the USA. If Novartis is really sitting on Billions in cash then go Merge/Aquire someone with true potential else you will be sold for scrap in 2024.

Agree. Only highest of the high volume PC docs will be targeted and called on. If 80 targets, then 70 will be cards and 10 will be PC.

Duane got pushed out from Janssen.

Duane is not all to blame for this mess. He is just the puppet. Des is running the show now! Don't know too much about him since he didn't get on stage in Dallas but I do know he is the main guy pulling the strings. Duane reports to Des.

So pushed out of BMS and Janssen? What happened at Janssen?

Of course Duane is to blame for this mess. Des is cleaning it up. Duane created it when they restructured to the shit show that is currently the cv structure. Regarding pcp reps. Keep in mind when restructured to the current situation, some tenured reps were moved to pcp. No pay change. At the time were told the jobs were equal. Some of those reps may be retained over a cv rep as they had been calling on cardiology prior and have tenure. Also, when pcp reps have moved to a cv1 or cv2 position, they did not get a pay increase. Told lateral move.

Wrong on living within the current or new territory. Even the new Renal job postings state that living 50 miles from the territory boarder is "reasonable daily commuting distance" for applicants.
You’re absolutely wrong and the above post is dead on. Where you live matters during a Novartis layoff. I’ve been through it. And current numbers and often most recent year end doesn’t. Previous 2-3 years matter. I know several laid off winning presidents club that same year. Depends on what year’s performance they are looking at. Year I went through it they weren’t looking at current year. Zip code where you live in reference to the territory layout was first with criteria.

You're wrong. I've been through several layoffs here at Novartis, never displaced and I live over a half hour from the border of my territory. They may look at iwhere we live and consider it but it never displaced me.

You had me at “Several layoffs” =
Novartis is a shit hole. No one should want to stay at an unstable crap show of a company. Then again, they get away with treating people like shit by paying big bucks and making you think there are no other options. Leave! Every single person needs to know it’s not normal to have layoffs every single year.

thank you for saying this, totally spot on. I came to this shit hole from a company that had not had a downsizing ever. When I tell people here at Novartis that there are companies that go for years and years without reorgs, they look at me like I’m crazy and tell me it’s not true. The gaslighting here is unbelievable and cult-like and it’s especially bad with those that came from GSK.

So much gaslighting. Same when I try to explain how other companies do buy and bill. Lots of condescension about how it couldn’t possibly be that way from people who have never sold buy and bill anywhere else, to me, who has.

Fighting Entresto generics
In September, Novartis sent the FDA a petition, after a similar one was rejected in April 2021, asking for Entresto’s patent protection to be extended to February 2024. Novartis argued that the early release of Entresto generics could cause labelling inconsistencies. At least 18 generics companies, including Teva Pharmaceutical, Viatris and Lupin Pharmaceuticals, are preparing to release their Entresto generics in July 2023 when the FDA will remove its last regulatory stay blocking generic approvals. In October, Novartis sued Viatris subsidiary Mylan plus Alembic, Crystal Pharmaceutical, MSN Pharmaceuticals and Nanjing Noratech for patent infringement surrounding Novartis’ ‘918 patent on Entresto.

Or people who sold reclast 15 years ago and think it's still the same.....

My B&B experience is much more recent and Novartis has done everything the opposite of how success companies do this. This launch has gone exactly how I predicted when they rolled out the model, though I have managed to do fairly well in spite of them. I’m not getting any coin for it though, since we have area goals.

I have a theory that Victor & Mike hired Duane because they thought a ‘stereotypical dumb American’ would would be a good puppet “leader” for US sales. Duane in his stupid plaid shirts and frat guy attitude fit the bill. That’s why we have AVPs that are much smarter than him. Sandeep is arrogant & truly hated but undoubtedly smarter than Duane.

what I don’t understand is local management saying “we knew this needed to happen” with the restructure. Yes, this is true but we also knew we should not have doubled the sales force during the pandemic.
Where is the accountability? This is why the leadership of Duane & his thug posse is dangerous. They are going to do what they want with no repercussions.

Duane - grow a pair and deal with the chaos you created.
Until then - here are your FAQs from sales:
