Duane - your time has come

Does anyone have any idea what percentage headcount reduction we are looking at for CV? PCP is being migrated to CV before or after? I know they are only losing one RD. With that I would thing less than 10%. What do y’all think?
IMO, PCP will be gone.

Entresto goes generic 7/23 or 4/24. PCP aren't the drivers of Entresto or Leqvio.

Anyone in PCP, start looking elsewhere. Hopefully you land a new gig and severence.

I believe cuts will be steep otherwise they would have given us an overall number. Also what does May1 look like for those let go? Does severance start May 1 or are we still on the books? No mention of voluntary retirement either.

50% of sales positions are being eliminated. When you factor in vacancies it is not actually 50% of reps, but pretty damn close.
It also doesn't mean all PCP reps are out, as we are all thrown in a candidate pool to be decided upon later.
Nobody should take this lightly - if you think you're safe you are delusional. You need to be knee-deep in your job search when May 1 gets here (if you aren't already gone).

They most likely created new territory maps incorporating PC and speciality, plus in CVA areas throwing all of those providers back in the mix. There are probably going to be more territories, then before, with 2 reps per territory. I think a 30% reduction is more like it. IMO should be more, but I bet they keep more then you think.

more importantly, I can't believe senior leadership isn't being held more accountable. So those of us at the bottom have to pay for their shitty strategic decisions, and they get to keep their jobs. Current Leadership, in this division, is the worst I have seen in my career. Honestly, do people even want to stay if this leadership team is still at the helm?

This should be a huge cut, don’t let clueless your abl tell you otherwise. Your main job right now if to find another job. If the cuts aren’t huge, they will be next year when Entresto goes generic. This is a sinking ship. Leqvio is not selling and Merck has an oral agent on its way. Praluent is no longer is promoted, Leqvio doesn’t need a 500 person field force.

The cuts should be larger, but if they are keeping 12 regions and making the territories smaller, it can’t be a 50% reduction. My region currently has 11 ABLs reporting to the RD. If only dropping 1 RD, that means, each remaining RD loses 1 or 2 Abls at most and so on to the rep level. If cuts were larger, they would have cut more RDs. Area of the county where the RD was cut could have slightly larger reductions than other parts. Cuts will happen again when Entresto goes generic.

Believe what you want/need to believe. They were actually reasonably transparent about it. The math is simple enough that even I can understand it. Two teams out of four are gone. If every position was filled (we know they aren't) that would be 50%. With vacancies it is probably more like 35-40%.
The critical element is that nobody should be talking themselves into thinking they have a job, or that any of this is o.k. It isn't.
Anybody who is being honest with themselves (and has a few years under their belt) knows it's a coin-flip at this point whether you will have a job on May 2. Thinking otherwise is a disservice to yourself and your family.

The problem with the math is that there are more cardiovascular territories than there are PCP territories. It’s not as simple as saying that if you have 2 PCP reps and 2 CV reps that it’s a 50% reduction because as a CV rep I overlap with three different teams of PCP reps. Last I knew there was approximately 400 PCP territories and closer to 800 CV territories.

As a PCP in a large geography, I overlap with 4 CV reps. It doesn’t seem geographically feasible to me to work this as two territories in an all specialty sales model. Most companies that do all specialty sales model have 3-4 territories here, including our competitors.

Agreed. Everyone should be looking now. If you aren’t cut this time, the axe is coming again next year.

It’s not a speciality sales model. The reps will be calling on pcp also in the new geography, hence smaller territories. All I know is if you are having 12 RDs. They each need around 10 Abls to report to them.

A few things you should remember - this isn’t part of T4G. There may be additional cuts & changes coming.
This reorganization is a correction for the 2020 expansion and restructure by mike and Duane. Leqvio may not be his fault but the situation we’re in now is.
As you listen to your abl share their opinions today keep a few things in mind. The flow of communication goes Duane/AVPs - RDs- ABls. Duane and RDs still have their jobs. Their goal is to keep up the revenue for the company. Abls listen to the RDs and then parot with their own spin.
When they say “disruption” it doesn’t mean the same thing to you and it does to them. They mean a revenue disruption. Duane killed a culture and made us expendable numbers. People are never first under this man. Think back to the horror show in Dallas when he couldn’t answer his own preselected question. Do you trust this man’s judgement or integrity?

Yes, this is what they call it in the market- an “all specialty” sales model in which sales calls on specialists and higher potential PCP. Most of our competitors and all buy and bill companies do this.

Which competitors in cardio are doing buy and bill? Answer none. Which competitors call on PCP to buy and bill? Answer none.

He has no integrity. It’s obvious. I’d bet that he has been fired or dismissed from just about every pharma job he’s had during his career.
