Anyone who knows Scott knows this is complete BS. He's one of the few leaders who actually cares about his people, wants them to success, and protects their a$$e$. Bad mouthing him is more of a reflection on you (meaning, you probably suck and will try to blame anyone but yourself for sucking).

BTW Andy P encourages the behavior of your DM. Briggs is a marketing guy, and a good one, but he has no business running a sales force. AP is pulling the strings, Briggs is just the puppet doing the dirty work for the nasty gotee. Don't know why he took the job, probably didn't have a choice.
