Translation: learn to kiss people's asses so you can get a job here that involves even less talent or hard work than a rep job requires. "Marketing" maybe? Even though doctors couldn't care less about marketing pieces. You could be a KAM but that job should belong to the screenwriters guild because almost everything they do is completely fabricated and made up. About 300 reps and 5 managers could take the whole portfolio of the company, report to one VP and a board of directors, and that's really all you need here. The numbers wouldn't change much.
You’re terribly oversimplifying what marketers and account managers do and over glorifying what reps do.
As a rep, I attended my kids games, sometimes picked them up when they got sick at school, worked close to home on Fridays, took occasional “office days”, and hit the gym by NLT 5pm while winning multiple awards. Don’t make the job sound like it’s heart surgery. It’s a good life, not one that’s going to burn you out or give you hypertension. Back in the day, I used spend about one day every week or two playing golf with customers.
