Do I dare report a major policy violation by my CTL?

If you were dumb enough to go to HR first, you deserve whatever you get. I'll bet you considered contacting the ombudsman, too. Is your head that far up your ass?

Disagree.....why have ombudsman if they are so worthless and hazadous? Their jobs wouldn't last a week if they had nothing good to offer. If 100% of outcomes favored the company they would be obsolete.

My first hand experience with their ombudsman is that you are better off with a lawyer. Their ombudsman packaged the violation to protect the company w/o regard to the issue at hand.

They get paid to protect the companies interests. make thing go away and to minimize the issues at hand. Once you file a complaint, they will never take your side.

DO NOT FILE A REPORT. I speak from experience. If you see or are involved with things that you don't agree with, are unethical, or against policy it is best not to take action. Even if you are successful in the short term with addressing the issue, the long term repercussions will haunt you. I recommend one of two options: Look the other way or quit for a reason that sounds good. The concept of "do the right thing" is a BS fairy tale. I did that several years ago, and to this day I have people trying to retaliate against me both professionally an personally. If you speak up, be prepared to sacrifice your future career. My advice is to just quit and walk away. Don't be a hero.

I still say you get a digital recorder, tape the violations and then hand them over to the FDA. That's how justice gets delivered. Those guys take no crap from the lowlifes at Merck.

You are only partly right. The ombudsman is not worthless and hazardous to MERCK, only to the MERCK employee. The ombudsman's value is all about protecting MERCK which is the chief reason for their existence. If they make the employee feel good by simply being a sounding board for the employee's concern, that's a side benefit only and not the real reason for the ombudsman position. Thus, the ombudsman does have good to offer MERCK! And, If 100% of the outcomes did NOT favor Merck, THEN AND ONLY THEN WOULD THEY BE OBSOLETE! Get real before it's too late.

from what I have heard there are some real interesting tapes out there that have a former oncology manager who has since been promoted saying some real crazy stuff.....the digital recorder is your savior.

What shame?

The shame of being a complete fraud. We all know the game---you get all dressed up to drive around, kiss ass and deliver little boxes----just hoping that the office will need a box or two so that you can collect your precious little signature. Then you go home and report your eight calls, whether you actually spoke to even one physician or not. What a joke.

I'm ashamed that I was ever part of that joke of a career. You should be, too.

Never report anything!!! The "major policy violation" could be a trap set by the CTL. If you report it, then your "performance" will decline and you will be out next go round. If you don't report it you have a much better chance of survival because the CTL will think s/he has complete control over you.
