Disappointed in VBU Changes

First off, I feel for all those who were displaced today. I wish everyone the best during this tough time. Who knows if leadership will give the same remorse. I’m disappointed in the expectation that VBU leadership set that there would be many opportunities for promotion and that there were more roles than heads. It was flat-out untrue. A lot of us were placed in territories that make us scratch our heads and think “is the company trying to push us out?”. It feels so wrong that the VBU has been raking in $$ more than ever, but the nerds at this third party company see that more profits can be made by reducing headcount, displacing people, and making the livelihoods of others worse. Leadership, If you’re reading this, please don’t start the call tomorrow with enthusiasm and excitement about the future of the business unit without showing at lease some remorse for negatively impacting a large amount of your people.

this was the most disgusting execution I have ever seen in this company. Lots of demotions along with separations of solid reps, contract persons and managers. We were told there would be expansions and that we would all have a job it might be just a different job. I was retained but wished it was different. Lost all customers and demoted. Will do new job but I absolutely HATE this company

If you hate GSK, why would you stay? Life is short, get out and don't look back.
 












Joaquin and Truck should be ashamed. The FLL’s were kept in the dark and this was shared last Friday along with FLL placements. No regard for people. Where was a hiring Freeze that could have prevented some displacements. Where was a preference for a package? All trust lost, let’s see who the FVP’s are and if Joaquin grows VBU people and talent. God help us in what they will say on a National call tomorrow.
 






I agree this was disgusting and shows a lack of respect for anyone! Straight bullshit to treat people like this! First you fly everyone to an expensive ass meeting, talk about the success of Arexvy and claim that the vaccine pipeline paved the way to the future and then let go of half the division! Thankfully, I was already looking and have secured a job with Pfizer! I can’t wait to kick your stupid digitally enabled reps ass! While GSK is faking calls at no see’s from there “opportunity engines,” I’m going to be selling to docs that really matter! You all are some stupid mother fuckers! Thank you for the severance and the “opportunity” to double dip!
 






I am also not happy with the execution and lack of transparency. It’s shitty, and they know it. But all companies do this. This ain’t unique. Emma is under constant pressure to increase its share price and that pressure gets passed down the ladder all the way to Joaquin and Truck. Will they deliver on Emma’s goals? Maybe. Who knows.
If GSK truly wants to be the go-to vaccine company, they need to adapt and restructure.. There’s a reason this third party recommended the changes it did. They believe this structure will drive sales, maximize resources, and increase profits. All in the name of making its shareholders happy (which by the way $GSK hit its 52-wk high TODAY). This is the brutal truth behind the way this company is oriented. Shareholder value is king. They know people will be hurt/pissed now, but they can absorb that burden for the time being. They have to “pull the rug” from underneath the reps so no one becomes a lame duck. They need to milk ya until they don’t need ya! This is just good old capitalism at its finest baby! You can be mad at the LT for the execution of this change but blame the free market and capitalism for why it happened!
 






We understand free market capitalism but this was a dumb move! Idiotic and short sighted and IT absolutely DID NOT have to be executed the way it was. It was wrong to lie to people and claim that there jobs were safe! It was wrong to not hold open positions in advance so that you lay off fewer reps and it was wrong to move reps from the AIR division, where they had jobs to lay them off a year later in vaccines! This company is fucked up and there is no way to justify the way this was handled. How are you going to retain talent when no one trusts the leadership! I guarantee that everyone is going to start looking for a job with other companies now and you are going to get the bottom of the barrel coming to work for GSK.

The grass is not greener at Pfizer. We are micromanaged so much it's ridiculous. They will also lie to your face about "no layoffs" and cut an entire division the next day.

Completely true, we just had people go to training. Most companies do a hiring freeze a year prior to avoid this. What a joke. Will the displaced reps still get their GSK merch from the meeting? :/
 






So let me see where we are at….
I have to go make calls tomorrow, participate in a VBU call and pretend I am ok with being displaced. I have to work for 2 more months, keep up my metrics and conference calls etc and ride alongs. Already have one on the books. Sure sure I am more than happy to do this with a fake ass smile on my face.
 






I can't believe that they are asking people to work after telling them that they don't have a position. Not very smart. What do they think the reps are going to say to the offices?
