CV field rides

The ride-a-long issue most vexing for me are the misnamed 'coaching' reports...seemingly representative of manager's perceived reality, unmatched with actual experience over 2 days. He'll inaccurately recount conversations, fail to mention the context in which they occurred, or include those occurring months ago. Moreover, he'll write that I 'agreed' to everything he's writing. More frustrating is my inability to comment on his inaccuracies. Much of what he says is his perception of conversations, without justification or examples. Finally, my Entresto numbers are the highest in our area, leading me to assume he's just an insecure asshole past his prime, frustrated he's still an ABL after years of being denied promotions. Perhaps this next round of layoffs will take me out, and knowing Novartis they'll likely keep this head nodding bozo.

“My numbers are the highest in the area”….. news flash dope, the “numbers” are an algorithm…STOP IMPRESSING yo’self. If you were so good and “numbers” so great you would not be on the chopping bloc lumped in a pool w everyone else. PCP, CVA, CSS.
Plz stop believing “performance” means sales numbers… “performance” is calls per day, reach, frequency, sync rate, spend.

if your “numbers” were so good and a real indicator, layoffs would be based on that… yet it’s not.

do yourself a favor. Look in the mirror and get a clue n stop impressing only yourself… your ass is showing honey… ok now STFU

If you’ve never worked anywhere but Novartis you may very well be drinking that Koolaid they are serving you that this is just how it is everywhere. Some of us have worked for companies with actual sales data and been held accountable for sales, without any metrics requirement. It’s very demotivating when you have a career of sales competitive spirit and come to Novartis with little data and so much focus on meaningless activity.

It is "block". And please learn how to capitalize and punctuate properly. You sound like a first grade student writing an angry letter to their teacher.

Former Novartian here. Put in 9 years before moving on. I feel for those of you who have a**holes for ABLs. Fortunately all 6 of my mgrs were super cool and let me do my job with minimal oversight. I only had one who would work a full day (he had to travel from another state) with me but he was pleasant to be with and office staff and providers liked him. For a brief period (about 3 months) I had an interim ABL who was one of those micromanagers. Thankfully she only worked with me once. One time she scheduled a last minute ridealong and when she called me to arrange where we were going to meet, I inadvertently coughed (I wasn't sick, I just had a dry throat). Being a hypochondriac she freaked out and cancelled the trip. I never had to deal with her again (the ABL that was hired for my area turned out to be really good), She continued her reign of terror with her area until finally she was let go because too many of her reps were either quitting or reporting her to HR.

ABLs are expected to be in the field 4 days a week and have around 8-10 reps. They are currently under the same metrics scrutiny we are. It’s completely demotivating.

My manager is scheduling April field rides. Give me a break. No one is doing field rides. Mark them as field days but stay home!!!! A lack of empathy or understanding. A bunch of horseshit.

I have a 2 day field ride the week before the "call". Yes I'm being paid now but honestly let's admit most PCP HCP's will never see another Novartis rep again. So asking for a "new start" and I'll check back next trip is a lie! After decades in this market I would have appreciated the chance to say goodbye to some key customers but now its SELL SELL SELL then Bye Bye Bye.

are you that soft? you’re still get paid, no? spend time together working on your resumes…

You think that calling out useless, performative bullshit for what it is makes someone "soft"? Here is a different opinion. Carrying the water for moronic turds like Duane, Vicki, Sandeep and Jeff is soft. Pretending that ride-days, at any point (let alone during a downsizing), are helpful, is soft. Thinking that receiving a paycheck means you aren't allowed to call-out naked stupidity is soft.
One thing we do agree on: you should absolutely be spending your days working on your resume. Clearly we disagree on whether your manager should be around while you do it.

Fantastic response. Unfortunately, the corporate minions will never recognize the stupidity of the ABL’s role. They are not coaches. That should never be their intended role in this business. They should be there to provide resources if needed, and get things done for the benefit of their reps. I’ve never seen so many process oriented drones in my career.

100% this is absurd. Business as usually knowing 95% of the PCP targets will be going away. Keep calling on them even tho you’ll never see them again.

My manager takes that “coach” role very seriously and thinks it means continually barking.

They are fucking high paid babysitters! The role should be eliminated.
Couldn’t agree more! Want to save the company money?? Eliminate the Abl roles or reduce them to managing multiple states and their main responsibilities to include approving expense reports and putting out fires. Stop pretending they help with business or coaching. It’s such a gigantic lie

The gigantic lie is what you signed up for so do your job. And if you don’t like it, quit! You’re getting paid a lot for very little actual work but yet you can’t stop bitching about it. Cry me a river…
