And dont forget that you can works your ass off, be a top performer, be on every project imaginable and you still get paid the exact same amount as the rep in your district that doesn’t work, can’t sell, doesn’t participate in any project or district call for that matter and averages 7 calls a day lol.

I’m AMAZED at how this company somehow gets their reps to get exited about trying to sell their drugs. The bonus is terribly low, it’s capped at 120% (meaning you only make like an extra $700 max) and your commission check all depends on how you other 10-15 district territories perform.

Jesus. This organization sounds like a nightmare.
I’ve run into quite a few Lilly reps in the field over the years-lots of diabetes reps of course- and i haven’t heard much good about the company.
The BI reps overlapping with their Lilly partners don’t have a whole lot of positive to say either.
How can it possibly be worth it to stay?

Shouldn't they be in trouble for the blatant age discrimination. Their application process stopped me right in the middle when stupid rookie questions had to be answered. I mean like - questions like you are just graduating college and i was tempted to give some of my back in the day sorority stories as an example - i just got a little mad that i wasted 10 min applying to get to that part. I stopped and pooped a bottle instead.

you dont know Indiana politics. It is a revolving door…

Culture at Lilly

You’ll be fine if you’re a hard worker, honest, female, <30yrs..good chance at advancement

You’ll be terrific if you’re a hard worker, honest, female, <30yrs, and a minority…. Excellent chance at advancement

Don’t believe me, take a look at the leadership org charts.

Interesting also that the Lilly reps are the dirtiest by far in the diabetes space, well known amongst competitors and offices. Hiding/moving samples, throwing away others' demo pens and copay cards, currently detailing off-label with their obesity trial data ( this is across the country btw), the list goes on.

Is it desperation and pressure that drives this? It's been like this for a long time. Sincerely would like your opinions on this.

Truth

If you are a white straight male, you will never advance and will only be hired if you are a millennial and look or talk gay or are female. If this is not you, you don’t have a chance.

As a straight 42 year old white male…I have to laugh at this post. I was just offered a job to join an already diverse team. Sorry to ruin your jaded opinion but maybe you just need to be better?

I didn’t make the post that you’re responding to but I will agree with their post.
I didn’t take their post as saying a white, middle aged male wouldn’t get hired but they are absolutely right in that the deck is stacked against you when it comes to awards & promtions.

Lilly wanted more females to win awards & get promoted to get their percentage of females being promoted higher. So there was a surge of females promoted very quickly.

Performance is not king & not what gets you promoted here. It just gets you in the conversation. If you have top 1/3 performance then DSMs vote on you for very very subjective reasons.

Lilly isn’t the only pharma company that said they’d do this a couple of years ago during the movement. Other companies stated they were going to promote females quickly to even out percentages.

It’s a PR move. Nothing more. Nothing less

There were Areas where only females won awards & received promotions. No white males at all. Much less a middle aged white male.

Maybe once Lilly gets their female percentages where they want them then it will open it up to be more fair to everyone

Only because of the age discrimination lawsuit. You’re in, but don’t expect anything more. Hope you negotiated a high base salary.

I can contest to that. I’m honestly surprised that Lilly has not got sued or in trouble with their hiring. As a public traded company. It would be different if it was a private company. Lilly in fact does not hire based on experience. They know who they will hire at the beginning.

Yup

And yep on salary too because you’ll never mans much more than you’re starting base.
And Lilly us in desperation mode to retain all the young employees that they hire and then leave within the first year or two. So Lilly has geared everything and I mean everything to the young new hires. Promotions, raises, awards, etc are all heavily geared toward the younger new hires.

If you’re older or have been at Lilly a while then you’re not rewarded near the same. Lilly announced this in theur new rewards plan a couple of months ago. Fact
